Biodegradable weed matting on roll - what's best?

We've been making lots of raised beds for our horticulture section and so far have been using sheets of cardboard from the local bike shop ....but can't get enough of it.

 

Now looking at buying a large roll of biodegradable weed matting.

Any recommendations?

 

Must be completely biodegradable, ie, not plastic.

I've tried Currys, Homebase, Wickes and a few others.... found that most don't allow access to the back of the store/or have small boxes.

 

I've found it takes a long time stripping the stickers & sticky tape from lots of little boxes whereas bicycle cardboard packaging is great as it's big sheets - presumably supermarket packaging is mostly in small boxes & I guess a lot of it may be colour printed (which we can't use).

 

But good shout on trying supermarkets, cheers, I'll try Morrisons.

Fair points there, especially re the bike shop cardboard. Shame about Curry's though; some of their TVs will use as much as a medium-sized bike!

Yeah, that's what I thought.

And a big shame when Health & Safety policy trumps Recycling cardboard back into the natural environment

Frightened you might trip over a bit of Sellotape were they? On THEIR premises... Heaven forbid.

Not used them yet but was going to put in an order for next year from here. Was going for the corn starch as heard good things and not too expensive.

 

The 500m roll of cornstarch seems not too bad on price compared with others (currently at £120 per roll).

Only lasts "up to" 16 weeks though. Would that be long enough?
