What got you started?

As above really, what got you started in this type of work - any regrets etc.

 

I'm working through my qualifications to get onto it, not yet set up etc, but after my first CS Course I know it's going to be a damn site more fun than my current job!

getting paid to play in trees, beats a real job.

Working through my ND in Countryside Management and sticking with my college work placement. And asking the big boss for a job every couple of months. Only took about 18 months of vol work and i was promoted to field worker.

I decided I had had enough of a life working as a carer in care homes earning really low wages or working in shops on min wage .

 

I had one asset I felt I could use I am very fit and love being outside and working outside I had a go of a freinds chainsaw and that was hooked I just knew I wanted to do I should of done it years ago but better late then never. its the best move I have ever made and now I have the best job in the world .

 

I now get paid to use chainsaws and look after peoples trees and gardens for them its good . I have never looked back .

 

I can honistly say its the best job in all the world even in the wind rain and snow every day I get my toys out to play with or put my harness on I think to mysefl how lucky I am . even if I could have the best paid job going I would not sawp this job for anyting . every day I have fun get good pay and play with my toys and make someons tree and or garden look great and in turn make them really happy to.

I left the army and my new boss sent me on a tree course turned out quite cool Sure beats robbing banks

just branched out:thumbup:, someone asked me to cut a tree down and it took ages with a bowsaw, then collected cs numbers/machines/bits of paper and found i was in demand:001_smile:

I left the family farm, went to uni to study music production, got to the 2nd year and started working for a tree firm just outside Leeds. cant even remember why it was I decided i wanted to!!

 

the rest is history!

So most of you started with CS courses and went from there as oppose to uni?

dad does landscapin iv worked with him for 6 years now and 3 years ago i watched 2 bloke fred and ben take one big and i mean big cedar tree down and thought that would be great to learn how to do that

and worked from there doing bits myself and worked my way up the ladder
