Hi all

opinions needed on this willow

location 8ft from pavement on 2 sides

height of fungi 3ft & 6ft

height of tree 30ft previously pollard 8ft

so the question is will it take a re-pollard or fell and replant

2 other parties involved 2 different opinions

Cut it off 4" from the ground and it will sprout again . Go back each spring and chop off spare growth until you get a new leader then maintain as a pollard ......

Other options would be to prune back to a point other than 8', right?

 

Answer depends on condition of interior wood (find by probing) and other tree parts, and the owner's risk tolerance.

 

Fruiting bodies tell us very little re risk.
