want to pimp up the disco a bit with a winch for when it can be used instead of pulling out the tifror. (and for pulling it out when i try to get the chipper as close to the tree as poss).

What's the good the bad and the useless?

I might be interested if you have any kit lying around for sale?

Terrafirma have some smart looking winch bumpers for a d2. Warn will be the best bet for choice. 9000ti is a good winch.

8274 is sought after and are good winches but depends what you want to do with it. I have an m8000 and that's got plenty grunt.

When he said "what you want to do with it" its a question to determine what endurance you need.

For what you have described an electric winch will do, if you had been looking at longer and repeated pulls then mechanical (not likely with the Discovery) or hydraulic would be more appropriate.

When you say "pimp up the disco" I am assuming you mean make it more useable rather than girly good looks.

I got a bumper custom built to fit my 8274 to a disco1. Its a bit of a carbuncle but it does have a certain "built in right of way" factor.

Get yourself the best low profile winch you can afford and find a bumper to fit
