Hi all, I'm knew to the forum, I've lurked for quite some time, and found arbtalk to an invaluable tool and wealth of information. I've always had transits, but am know looking Into a single cab 110 or 130 hicap tipper. Obviously being a 3.5 tonner there will always be issue with legality, this aside for a minute. How capable is a 110 or 130 tipper as a weight carrier. Is it a viable chip truck ? What sort of weights of chip could be carried without causing damage?

I'm going to buy a Carlton SP7015 TRX, the one Im looking at is a 2006 model. Has anybody who's already got one, had it weighed ? I know the official literature states that its 2ton but I'm not convinced that this is right, I think its heavier. My trailer, with screens, boards, ramps, tools and spare diesel weighs 2.3 ton so it could be important. I'd rather not be on the M3 with a VOSA officer proving to me my trailer and machine is overweight.

I'm getting an Iveco Daily 35c14 (yeee haaaa) which can tow up to 3 tons, so I'm thinking why not put some of my kit on to the chipper... then I see this.... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owJfr-fAODw]YouTube - DIY vs Professional tree care[/ame] Check it out at about 0.50 seconds. Is that a grinder in the chipper I see? Whats the legality on this. Is it a hi-viz attached to the unit if it sticks out too much jobbie. How about some other ideas on attaching saws and kit to the chipper. Kind of helps with the overloading of the truck I reckon.

Hi I know that a vehicle over 3.5t needs an 'O' licence, but is a vehicle under 7.5t non hgv, thus not restricted by all off the laws associated. Hear from all you good people soon.
