  1. This my original post: I am about to purchase either a Scag zero turn walk behind rotary mower or flail.. Has anyone used either? I would like too know more about the flail type, as I am presently using a quad, and towing a Logic flail mower.. it seem senseless having two engines running.. what sort of stuff will the flail cut through?
  2. Thanks—finally someone who actually read my post and responded with the kind of answers I was looking for, rather than just pushing what worked best for them! Really appreciate it. Do you have any 36" machines working on slopes? On our hay field headlands I am trying to keep the cut strip no wider than 48" if possible, I have now the chance of a rotary 36" which I can put dual wheels on for some bank work..
  3. Ah, I'm looking to just cut a narrow path around the headland of our Hay field, maximum width of 4ft.. I have three 4WD tractors, and I have a 6ft topper..
  4. Thank You for replying, I have a V twin Logic flail mower behind my 500cc Honda quad, that will cut as you said grass, and brambles... I am trying to get away from running two engines, and there are a couple of neighbours who also wants some steepish banks cutting..
  5. Thank You for your reply.. I have the chance of a New Scag 36" flail with dual wheels still in a crate which is 4 years old never commissioned, as the crate was hidden by other stock about 7K.. otherwise I am looking for a second hand rotary, ideally 48" Its only for cutting the headlands of our hayfields a couple of times before we mow..

  7. We have a KGD 550 M on a 100hp tractor, what would the best PTO speed for optimum efficiency?
  8. Thank you for the reply, what is square plant 12", is this meaning plant 12" apart? I live on a top of hill near the coast, and the salt has eventually got to the leylandii, I was recommended to plant the Griselina.. the hedge is going to be about 5ft max when established..
  9. I recently bought a house with a very established leylandii hedge planted about 1982, the hedge has got wider and wider over the years, and now is really needs to be removed. the trees were planted about 4 to 5 feet apart and the stumps will be about 8 to 10 inches in diameter.. I would like to replace it with Griselina. What size plant establishes its self the quickest, and how far apart would i need to plant for a 5ft high hedge? All advice greatly appreciated..
  10. 😂
  11. Great, theres know problem with a tractor, which have many, its the distance between jobs.. Since posting this we have had two enquires, one 38 miles away and another 12 miles, well, Im not carting a tractor that far..
  12. We bought a Hakki Pilke OH27 pro driven Wood Processor for personal use on a derelict farm, all the hedge rows had grown 40ft high snapped off or bent over and grown into the ground and started growing again, hundreds of spindle type willow and alder nothing any larger than 5", now we have finished all the hedges, we are thinking of buying the equivalent in a towable version, as we have been asked so many times if we could go and do work for other people..
