I love my Marlow Nelson but the Loler inspector refuses to inspect it. Is there a cheap rope suited to the task, that doesn't provoke the same horror as 3 strand? New rope or new inspector?

🤣 I should have added a caveat Where I am based, asking for £180 to do crane work is pushing the boat out and I've been driven to second jobs afterwards to justify the cost. So I'll have to hold off on my rangerover pre order. The Hilux definitely looks "unprofessional", especially with the exhaust trailing behind me A swb/mwb van might be the option, might get it sign written as a Florist, apparently they get broken into less..

What vehicle would you have as a self employed climber? My MK6 Hilux exhaust just fell off and the chassis needs welding. MOT is up at the end this month. It is getting rough and I am wondering wether to export it to a terrorist group. 4x4 has gotten me to work in some shit weather recently but mileage is higher nowerdays. Contemplating an estate with roof box for saws and tow hitch for trailering logs for the burner. What would your dream set up be?

Safety got specified on Highways and Rail so I just got into wearing them. Nearly had a throwhook take my eye with it last year so I kind of like wearing them now Just hoped they'd last a bit longer this time

My last pair of JCB ones have broken after 5 months and Specsavers won't replace them. Tired of the plastic ones degrading with sweat, dust and UV. Anyone had a set that have survived and not looked too much like an old woodwork teacher?

Doing some Phytophthora Larch removals currently I always think about cross contamination and spreading of diseases through deadwooding/removals/pruning Are there people that decontaminate their equipment between jobs?

Lot of ex services get in at your age. Most end up successfully running their own company in the domestic market due to their contacts, interpersonal skills and personal financial stability. Nice to work for squared away people as well. You probably aren't going to be doing the big dismantles but sub another climber in and run the ground.

There is a reason professional warranty is shorter on saws, that 562 will have had an uphill paper round. It is an okay price for a brand spanking 500i Jury is out on durability. I think most tree firms could probably do 90% of their work with just a 201 and 500i nower days Argument ensues...
