  1. I was wanting to install a stove boiler with a thermal store (essentially just to have some control over our heating bill) I found someone on here selling a Eco Angus log boiler with a 1000L thermal store last summer. I fitted it to an existing pressurised system along side a combi boiler (we've used this for hot water in the summer) incase I run out of wood or if for whatever reason can't use the eco Angus. Last winter it worked very well batch burning with scrap wood like pallets when it wasn't below freezing all day. It would take 3.5-4hrs of an evening to get the thermal store from 30oc to 85oc. When it was very cold I loaded the boiler full of logs once in the morning and again in the evening. At some point in the future I hope to fit solar PV to the thermal store for hot water in the summer months (this is how it was previously used with an emersion heater).
  2. Yeah that's the plan. I can't seem to find the correct 3 way valve for what I want to use it for so might just use separate isolating valves.
  3. I'm in the process of fitting a used eco Angus 18kw log biomass boiler with a 1000liter thermal store. I will be connecting it up to my combi boiler system. I plan to isolate whatever heat source I'm not using with valves.
  4. So this week I collected the boiler and have made a start on fitting it. Are people here interested in seeing the install I could add pictures here, create a new thread or update to my Instagram. Would anyone find it interesting/useful? Thoughts?
  5. I'm planning to make one from an old oil drum in the next couple of weeks. Im planning to follow the build instructions from this video but make it half height. Will report back on how it burns
  6. Benno I can't wait to get this installed! I had previously been looking for a back boiler stove using a heat store but we wanted a system where I could still have the option of reverting back to the combi boiler that is already installed in the property. This boiler ticked all the box's! I'm guessing that with a system like this you could increase the storage capacity with extra tanks altho heat loss would be greater with extra pipes ect. I'm sure for my needs the 1000liter will work well hopefully we can get solar pv installed further down the line to compliment this system.
  7. Hi guys, Am I right in thinking the best/safest way to tune the carb is to use a tachometer to get the revs at the recommended rpm's and then the fuel air mix will be correct?
  8. Yes thats right, I found i had to do the air filter up a little bit each side until tight to get it to sit tight on the carb.
  9. Just run 2 tanks though it, I had been using my dads 025, very suprised by the power diffrence with the 026.
  10. I think this was the problem, I removed the filter and made sure the fuel line was free did the air filter back up and checked fuel line was free and bingo. Now it runs like a dream! Thanks for all the help and suggestions, this easy fix has made my day!
  11. Thanks guys got plenty of possible causes to look into tomorrow.
  12. Thats something I haven't checked, will look at that tomorrow. I did think about maybe changing the fuel and impulse hose as I plan on keeping the saw a while. Is there much between stihl oem lines and other brands apart from price? Thanks
  13. I think it must lean off as soon as you tighten the airfilter (feels/sounds like last few seconds before you run out of fuel) will check how it restarts tomorrow .
  14. Hi, Last week I picked up a new to me stihl 026 pro last week and I can't get it running with the air filter on. It will run without it on with no problems but as soon as I fit the airfilter the revs go crazy and then dies off and stalls. It will then fire up, but won't run with the airfilter on. I've tried cleaning the air filter, cleaning the carb (altho thats from another 026 so I know works fine). I've tried setting the saw to the factory carb settings. I guess its now going tobe a process of elimination, but any tips on where to start? Thanks Tom
