  1. Eddie Rabbit driving my life away and about 10 rollies sure made short work of it... @AHPP could of ended up in Newcastle if I didn't double look it at 4am 😂
  2. Some trek for a days work anyways. Will have done 150 miles before @Doug Tait's even thought about trimming hedges
  3. Aye currently we both work for the same company and I'd try not to step on anybodys toes trying to do this. We are no strangers to crap work. It would just be great to do it off your own name etc and scale something up.
  4. Me and my friend at work where on about doing this today and wondering what it would take to work directly as a self employed cutter for Tilhill/Commision etc jobbing around the lot. We are only general woodcutters/shown in my video blog on here but would be looking to start off small as there is lots of larch jobs going around which are all cut to waste etc. I know ideally we would need a tractor and timber trailer to get further ahead, but not keen on buying something like that until the opportunity arrives for full time work with it. If anyone has ever done this in Scotland before it'd be nice to hear how you done it, for in the future as I'd like to branch out within time and get my own thing going and branching out to estate work etc. I've heard of people using Forest Direct but not entirely sure how that goes either.
  5. Took a fair bit of jacking over these ones.
  6. 'Strange looking white haired bearded man looking through my bedroom window again' being one of the first?
  7. So it's you that everyone on Facebook is moaning about then?
  8. New belt sander for bars and wedges... yet to decide how to and where to mount it in the garage. Quite fancy it being on a wooden shelf on the wall at a good height... Made a bar/chain rack as slowly getting a few spares. Bought a 36 the other night. Only 80 quid from Chris Forestry. Cheap!
  9. How much petrol would this splitter go thtough in a days splitting?
  10. Piece of cake if the fella sets it out right in the fork lift and clears me out. Really easy compared to felling considering I just walk around the yard cutting rings. Charge 340 for 8-5/5:30 and normally cut about 35 crates worth if I've got a good hand clearing me out. I don't really lift them into the bucket or anything. Seems pretty pointless to me how he handles the log 3 times before it's produce... Contemplating a road towable splitter and see if I can go out on a day rate. Some guys charge 220 for the day. 585 kick back is unreal if you catch the tip on something if you're cutting in a complete mess. Can put me just about on my arse.
  11. I would if it were hard af all the time. But cutting for harvester drivers so got to be a bit quick when going. edit No that I'm quick. Slower than a bank holiday weekend in the cell
  12. I've a reel of full chisel now so I refuse to buy any loops or anymore reels as I'm tight af. Otherwise I would. @Stubby Not sure if that's sarcastic 😂
  13. Aye you could be right. Firewood fella says in a 9 hour shift on the saw I'm cutting 35 crates worth of hardwood. Some of it is pretty rough, cone split stuff as well. Messy but I'd say that's a no bad result.
  14. Quick photo of todays mixed bag. Same job as above but a lot cleaner on the other side. Ended up felling in all the outsiders with the wind we had today. No jack or wedges needed. Some douglas, larch and Sitka in there was good to cut something different with the douglas. Does anyone know why shelter belt plants are always so effing hard on chains? I've filed a full 24 inch chain in 2 days. Outside edge is like stone.
  15. The 572 has been airbourne a few times. It's one of those things you do and instantly regret when it's in a heap. 😂
  16. Whatever that means but theres been a lot of tantrums to say the least. 😂
  17. @Doug Tait Amber Leaf saved my life 😂😂😂 Here's a wee video of the next few days in this rotten windblown bit all needing cut off, cut to waste and the standing in and amongst it felled. PISH IMG_3792.mov
  18. Belt sander would be grand for touching up wedges as well when they get a bit out of shape also if anyones got any recommendations for one send them through. Looking at this one right now.
  19. Not carrying a battery grinder up the hill but that is a good idea. Flat file it is for at work but if I can stretch it out til the end of the week and get everything on a saturday after work pretty quickly on a belt sander thatd be great.
  20. Something along the lines of this? Not sure what the Axminster brand is like
  21. Hey friends... that's where I've got the idea from, friends. Also was thinking of bar maintenance and was going to buy a cheap 100 quid belt sander for the garage. Does anybody else use one for burrs? I use a flat file in the wood but it'd be grand in the garage.
  22. That looks pretty decent tbh. @Dan Maynard mainly the reason I asked as it's not exactly branded etc
  23. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005622583635.html?src=google&src=google&albch=shopping&acnt=494-037-6276&slnk=&plac=&mtctp=&albbt=Google_7_shopping&albagn=888888&isSmbAutoCall=false&needSmbHouyi=false&albcp=17858123517&albag=&trgt=&crea=en1005005622583635&netw=x&device=m&albpg=&albpd=en1005005622583635&gad=1&gbraid=0AAAAADznYb9-ge_R3pqDLRT8U_xkIS1gx&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIiM6s3ID4gQMVCsftCh25VwXfEAQYAiABEgKP1PD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds&aff_fcid=3bceaeae3e5c451f9ee1d7fdb655f0e0-1697371315457-03241-UneMJZVf&aff_fsk=UneMJZVf&aff_platform=aaf&sk=UneMJZVf&aff_trace_key=3bceaeae3e5c451f9ee1d7fdb655f0e0-1697371315457-03241-UneMJZVf&terminal_id=55db9d38427040808dfdf1de54304951&afSmartRedirect=y Now then. Anyone used this tool? 25 quid seems like itm'd be worth having.
  24. It's defos been worked anyway thats for sure 😂
  25. A cooking stove thing?
