  1. Would you not be better Fort William/Cairngorms area?
  2. Download Google Lens and do a reverse image search
  3. Excels1or

    Storage

Buy an ISO container or two and ask around local farms to put them
  4. New to wood turning and was wondering what folk are using to seal the end grains? I've read everything from anchorseal and watered down pvc to just using regular emulsion, any help would be appreciated.
  5. Anyone here growing Nordmann, frazer, Norway? Looking at buying some acres for a yard and want to start a side hussle doing cut your own trees. Ran the numbers on 2 acres and return is decent enough. Looking for any pointers, with regards to buying stock for planting? is it worth getting an agronomist in to check the land before purchase? I've got a fair amount of experience in the industry, just not in the startup side of things. Tia
  6. Surely they've made a mistake
  7. Have you tried HBS Ring in Inverness? Done my 1,2 and 6 there and it was pretty cheap
  8. Wouldn't paint the tree as it'll effect the gas exchange through the bark. I believe you can get a wrap, which they tend to use in America
  9. Hinowa are better machines imo
  10. Whitebeam?
  11. Unpopular opinion perhaps, but I'd go with the new ST6P. Forst have always worked well for us
  12. Get yourself added to the Arb/Forestry Scotland Whatsapp group
  13. Its easy to waste money on Google ads if you don't know what you're doing. And its expensive to get an external company to run campaigns for you......we use an external company and at the moment we're around £35 per lead due to most other tree surgeon companies also advertising. Can be a bit of a minefield but does repay if you're willing to shell out initially.
  14. Where in Scotland are you based? I'd be interested, think your sentimental bowls are a really good idea
  15. Yeah, second above, cordyline are basically unchippable. You hear a lot of the guys in the states tackle them top down when dismantling
  16. Work out what your running costs are and % profit needed for the business, then price jobs accordingly. Dont fall into the trap of being a "busy fool". Get a good accountant, they may seem expensive, but a decent one will save you more money than they cost. Be upfront and don't be afraid to put your foot down with clients. Best of luck, 21 is a great age to start your own operation 👍
  17. Always thought its strange that you can prune a tree back to the boundary but when you apply to the council if the trees TPO'd or in a conservation area the council document says to make sure all work is compliant with 3998.....a lot of the time you cant prune back to a growth point/branch collar
  18. My Mrs is a surveyor specialising in Business rates. You're apparently better calling the accessors they'll tell you if its currently got an RV on it and what its currently assessed at
  19. Should you be loading docs with clients details/contacts on?
  20. You don't turn pollards back into normal trees, but you can try and turn topped trees back into normal trees
  21. What do you do for a living?
  22. 7 years
  23. Anyone ballpark what an acre of land would cost to rent P.A? Its for growing Xmas trees. Glasgow based
  24. Could be Scold, could be fungal. If you pruned it hard I'd have expected it to yield more fruit, see how it produces this year as pears can skip a year. Prognosis doesn't look good in the long run as there's visible delamination, however as its a small tree which is still going into leaf means there's Cambium hanging in there
