  1. Six minutes in he talks about the multisling. I like it a lot, but I feel it's too skinny, and we shouldn't really be hanging on one carabiner. The skinny line is, as you will see in the video, hanging on two legs. But if the small ring got through the carabiner, it would change to loading dynamic to a single leg. The idea is to facilitate easy rope removal after some redirects, with no rope on rope friction. With the opportunity to advance the tip while in the tree. It's good, but I feel it could be better.
  2. It's like a ring and ring cambium saver, but one side can be opened upon reaching the first thrown anchor. So that it can be put higher up if needed. Got any suggestions of something like this that is retrievable, please stick em on here. Cheers
  3. HOLY MOLY ! I just had a look, that's an expensive anchor ! It looks to be aimed at drt ? I've got the pulleySAVER for my drt set up, maybe I could use that. But I'd prefer to keep seperate systems. This thread is just for a canopy tie that can be moved up without pulling all that line up. Is that rope guide really necessary, what's the advantage ?
  4. I'm new to srt, is the pulley to assist removal ? I was under the impression that with the line running through hardware and not over a limb, it would be okay. I could chuck a pinto on the maillon, I also like the look of the Texas tug that I've seen online.
  5. Would you climb on that ? Is it an acceptable anchor ? That's a 34mm ring and a 9mm maillon on 10mm Sirius. I saw 'the climbing arborist' doing it with a sewn multisling and a carabiner. The problem here for me, aside from only 10mm Sirius holding this much awesome... Is the knots. Knotting reduces rope strength. I've not cut this hitch cord yet, I'm not sure that I will. I've ordered a 30kn lyon anchor sling, to which I'll put two delta links. That is what I will be using. I'm just curious about people's views on this. What do you use ? Ta
  6. I have a bunch of that Sirius cord, I was going to tie one of those up to a dmm ring and a boa carabiner for an srt tip. Is it not recommended ?! Saw it on an old climbing arborist video (4 years old) and thought, I'll make one of them.
  7. Not sure I want to be free climbing past my point !
  8. Thanks people for all the advice. I've split my basket between honey brothers and gustharts. It saved me enough money to allow some upgrades, a recommended 60m line ! I forked out on the basis that this needs to start now, so that I can start the adjustments. Hopefully I can get the speed up asap. But it's about making it easier on me, not the speed. But I will want to at least match my current times. I'll need to practice my throwline, and I'm a little perplext as to how a srt tip is advanced beyond the first achieved anchor... it'll be a journey. Thanks all 👍
  9. Yeah, I'm going to have a look at that. It's already been recommended. I think I'll do a comparative basket with HB and see if some of my list can be bettered. Cheers
  10. Knew it would be rubbish, rope is on the list ! Looking forward to a lighter rope, and left to pull through where I'm at !
  11. I fully understand that. Every time a get a new bit of kit it slows me down until I'm used to it !
  12. Looks pricey ! What will be the benefit of this piece ?
  13. Thanks for the information, there's a few shouts for a longer line now, this is a great help. As for rings and various nicknacks, I have them in abundance ! And yes, the mrs title seems to have thrown many !
  14. Yep, drt or DdRT or mrs... I've read it called so much on here that I didn't know which way to go with it !
  15. Thank you for the welcome, up until now I've just been a silent stalker ! Lol, there's so many ways now that people define what used to just be called climbing technique ! I was going for the acronym 'moving rope system'. Two ends, two blakes/prussics, and a side strop. Thanks for your comment, my thoughts were on that line. But I had read on here somewhere, someone had mentioned three times the height you climb ?
  16. And how long should the rope be ?!? I've added 40m to the basket. My 45m rope gets me around anything at the moment in DdRT.
  17. Hello tree bods, I'm Rob and I'm a climber. I've been in the game for over 20 years now. I climb mrs with a hitchclimber in an O rig on a pulley saver. I have a blakes on my other end. I climb one prussic and one blakes on my short rope. I have a vt on my side strop. (Why is everyone calling a side strop a lanyard now ?). I've used various different options within mrs, but I would now like to add srs/srt to my game. Unfortunately, I don't know anyone who's using the srs/srt system. So I've nobody's advice to hear. I don't fancy trusting all I see on YouTube ! I'd like some pointers as to what to get. I'll be taking specific training when the courses are open, but I want to get the kit now. Seems to me that a possible list could be : *rope (srt specific) *rope wrench *hitchclimber (I may just use the one I own already) *foot ascender *knee ascender *foot loop for the knee ascender *tape sling or chest harness *some more carabiners Am I over egging it, or missing parts ? I've looked online and found those parts. There's Stein ascenders, isc wrench, xstatic rope, 8mm sirrus, ect... Stein any good for these parts ? The rope looks good, it's not the cheapest ! I've got various other bits of kit in my bag already that I can put to purpose if needed. thanks people, Rob.
