  1. I wanted an accurate, faster mill for smaller processing. Also a portable mill. The ES8 will save on fuel and the water cooling will be available for the ES8 soon too. Also the ES8 just looked cool 🤣 I have a 661 for use with it also. I haven’t had an F2. I have done a good bit of research and spoken to people about it though. We’ll see how it goes.
  2. I have just ordered and paid for the F2+ with ES8 63cm bar (the 70cm cannon bar not available until March). The ES8 will be available late January early Feb. I’ll been posting on my Instagram (trees_to_timber_uk)when it’s set up. They will be rising prices next year like all companies seem to be and there will be +2% increase guaranteed due brexit. (There is a note on the website now) Currently you get x5 stihl rip chains and a stihl bar included free. I think it’s 23”.
  3. No Norfolk
  4. I offered £100 but haven’t heard back....really don’t care either way I’m only really doing it as it’s near to me. But looks like £100 won’t be enough for this highly valuable walnut [emoji28]
  5. ? like it
  6. Think just the log. Well that’s all I’d take if I bothered
  7. Yeah I wasn’t exactly excited by it, it’s not a great shape and I agree there’s not a great thickness of dark heartwood. It’s just local to me and I could collect it, but I almost can’t even be bothered to ask them...it will just be overpriced.

  9. Just the big log I think.
  10. I haven’t seen said video!?[emoji848]
  11. This is for sale near me. They say ‘make offers’ 11ft long about 700mm wide mid-base. I know people overvalue walnut often. Just be interested to get some feedback? Thanks

  13. So I might be being a bit thick here...the issue is ‘possible damage’ due to the full revs in pdi, or there has been actual damage due to the pdi?
  14. Hi The boards are only a few months air drying and 2 inches thick. I just wondered if it was charged per day or per cube etc. Was just curious I guess there’s lots more variables to the price.
  15. I have some very good oak boards that are worth the expense of getting them kiln dried. Does anyone know what sort of costs are charged? I know someone who runs a private kiln so I’ll most likely go with that.
  16. Thanks will take a look cheers
  17. Thetford
  18. [emoji1303] given me some good info
  19. My first ever attempt at a ‘book match’ pleased with these. I have another dozen boards to cut. This is from a fallen dead oak I paid £170 for. Well worth it!
  20. Thanks guys I appreciate the advice. It’s just in a forest and no real need for care when felling and clearing up. I find it hard around here in Norfolk to find logs I’m after. I paid £170 recently for a 3m burred dead log and cut some today really pleased with it. I’ll add pictures. I’m on Instagram again trees_to_timber_uk give me an ad I’ll return the favour [emoji1303] My thinking is also the other way if it’s good wood it will be worth good money that size. I will see what the owner says and let you know [emoji1303]
  21. It’s on a huge private estate. It is just a tree I spotted and would like to mill based on the size of the tree. (of course no guarantees of it’s quality but in my experience even long dead oak can provide stunning timber) I know the owner of the land. I will keep the boards and utilise the big bows for beams etc. I will see if he wants the rest for firewood. I’m just interested in the trunk really and am going to make him an offer for it.
  22. I might have this dead oak to mill up in situ. I just wondered what would be a fair price for it. It is dead obviously and has some wood dust on the outside from pests but is solid as far as I can tell. The main trunk to mill is approx : 1.3m wide 6m tall Any idea or calculations for value would be helpful. Thanks.
  23. I see 881! Thanks for the info [emoji1303][emoji1303]
  24. Yes me too! I don’t see a reason for them to call me back and repeat that information unless it was what they had been told. I have t seen anything online. Guess will have to wait and see.
