  1. Sorry, I meant on the spark plug, should of said electrode? Seen pitting and “chunks” missing before.
  2. I ain’t no small engine mechanic, but sounds like a fuel/air problem? Blocked filters, split/weak rubber somewhere, perished gasket? Knackered points, fouled, incorrect gapped spark plug? Blocked carburettor? New fuel correctly mixed? If it’s m-tronic, nothing you can do with the carb to adjust, as it is auto adjusted by the the solenoid using the flywheel speed sensed by the coil (that has some sort of brain/ecu I think), and that’s it. Carb can still be gunked though. If things seem like a fuel/air problem, I factory delete the filters if poss, and run on fresh fuel from clean Jerry can/jar. If it still runs rough, you’ve isolated fuel metering and delivery (carb is the fuel pump) and ignition. If you’ve already covered these bases, sorry. Just wondering why you went through the trouble of changing the cylinder and what not? Was the cylinder scored? A new solenoid is around £20.
  3. My half brother only entertains Land Cruisers and Shoguns, not so much the towing capability, but reliability.
  4. I’ve settled in Essex, originally from whale bones and Dracula country in the north. Thank you all so far for the welcomes. I’ll be having some daft questions soon enough [emoji2957].
  5. Signed up to the forum to glean/steal information about chainsaws. Mechanic by trade, building a chainsaw for fun (MS261 m-tronic), as I have little money or room for a project car. Hope I don’t tread on any toes, and forgive me if I do. Been reading posts on running problems mainly and pricing up jobs/how to tackle jobs, but I’ll get round to reading others. Thanks for having me.
