  1. The wife and I have had Bullies for the last 30 years. We swear we are never getting another one, but here we are?
  2. Thanks Rich. I am glad you have been putting the footie to good use.

    Rate My Hinge.

You are simply moving the center of gravity (tipping point) to your advantage. Much like using extremely deep gob cuts when you are chunking down wood with a mild backlean. No need for taglines or wedges if done properly.

    Rate My Hinge.

A deeper undercut means the weight of your tree is gonna get in front of your hinge quicker, which means less pounding of wedges. When I am falling I frequently put my hinge around the center point of the tree..Kind of a west coast thing. I’ve never heard an undercut referred to as a gob cut.. I’m gonna start using that one!

  7. Not really making video's these days. I have never enjoyed the video making process, and gawd knows the world doesn't need another wannabe YouTube ArbStar. We will leave that to folks much more qualified than myself.
  8. This tree split into 2 very large co-doms at about 40-50 ft, which can be a nightmare in these Redwoods. One of the co-doms had a hard head lean towards some structures so we were worried that when we were falling it the tree wouldn't act as a single tree, but that each side would peel away and go where they wanted... I ended up climbing it and limbing the side we were most worried about. I then put a very high tagline around both co-doms and we gentle pull them together. On my way down I strapped both sides together 2-3 times. The plan worked very well and the tree fully cooperated with us....

    Stihl ms500i

Here in the states Husky's tend to be more sensibly priced compared to Stihl's, but like most saws they are kinda hard to find these days. I did see 2 395's at my local saw shop the other day, but they were both already spoken for. I myself run 2 Madsen modded 395's with 42" bars on them. Simply put, the best 90cc saw I have ever run. I love my 5 series Husky's (550, 562, 572), but it will be a sad day when the larger 3 series saws are no longer available... Looking forward to their upcoming 5 series 90-120cc saws. They have some very big shoes to fill...
