  1. Top man, thanks for putting the time in on that one for me. Annoying when they write suitable for 16” & 18” bar on the box ? i have a 16” bar in my box of bits i think so will be able to abuse them at some point. Thanks again ?
  2. Yeah i see what you mean, there is quite a bit of adjustment with the quick chain tension system, will give one a bash [emoji106] can only go wrong once i guess [emoji33]?
  3. Baffled my head a bit routing on internet, and differences in bar mounts too..... [emoji30] cant say i’ve really paid that much attention to the mounting of em, my 026C has quick change casing on it and my 021 has standard 2 nut type casing, i just wind off when needed and swap whats needed.
  4. I thought that originally but on the box it has on the left hand side, 16” - 18” bar compatibility, (if that makes sense) thats why i was presuming it may be a sprocket compatibility issue ?‍♂️ ah well, ya win some ya lose some. Be an ebay job then i rekon, cheers for input [emoji106]

  6. I’v got an 18” bar (part number 30030086817) on my 026C running .325 pitch and .063 gauge 1.6mm chain, 74 drive links (part number 36390030074) Been routing through some boxes today and found a couple of brand new stihl chains (part number 36390000068) .325 pitch and .063gauge 1.6mm 68 drive links. My question is, will they / or are they, compatible with my bar? Routing through google and places i’m leading towards..... not! Its as though there is only one suitable stihl chain to fit my stihl bar ?‍♂️ if the answer is no, then would it just be because of sprocket compatibility? Any help would be much appreciated guys, thank you. Seems a shame if they cant be used.
  7. Thanks for heads up [emoji106]
  8. This site is driving me potty, i’m i better posting in timeline section or doing what i’m doing? Kinda feel lost somehow. [emoji849] Think the 024 wood boss wants crank bearings, it whines on overrun coming off throttle, will spin clutch and drum off it first to make sure its not related, only ever had the 018, 023, in bits before, not done one where you split casings yet. Got a TS400 with what sounds like a big end gone from what i can hear / feel from pulling on starter rope to look at too..... love messing ?
  9. I have a stihl 021 as my first saw for regular use, had it for nearly 7 yrs now and never given an ounce of bother, had a carb kit and a couple of adjustments but thats it. Recently bought myself a very very tidy 026C and i LOVE it. Its only a hobby for me really but i just love everything about chainsaws, think they’re ace, i’ve definitely caught the bug.
  10. Hi guys, thanks for responses, little 018C an 024AV Wood Boss and a very old what i think is a 08S.
  11. Hi all, very recent newbie on here, would just like to pick at anyones knowledge who can help. Was brought up on a farm so had use of chainsaws for a long time now, my dad dragged a couple of old stihl’s out of his shed so i’ve started playing around with them in my spare time. I’m a hgv mechanic by trade so got a pretty good understanding of engines big and small. Just wondered if any of you guys had any recommendations for buying a compression tester to suit these small 2 stroke engines? I have a set with most fittings but are obviously for use with the big 6 cylinder diesel engines, any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks Ratman
