  1. he's a weasel if ever there was one. More capricious than the wind too. Tony Blair though.... gah the name makes me feel dirty.
  2. Running and lifting can be equally as arduous IMO. I like a combination. Running more than 5 miles hurts my back, hip and knee though due to spinal fusion and being fused with a laterally tilted pelvis.
  3. I would LOVE a unimog :-)
  4. It is. I use it. But I don't suffer bad. Just get the blues now and then. Definitely works for mild depression for me. Quite quick acting too. And no, it's not placebo cos I expect nothing to work for anything, and nothing usually does.
  5. Well I don't work beyond a 5 mile radius of where I live which means no more than 5 miles from waste centre. 90% of my work is within 3 miles. Granted, I'll have to go beyond that for tree work but I'm still not seeing the downside based on the fact that you would have to go 2 or 3 times to the waste centre to do your disposal to my 1 trip anyhow. Yeah a bit of bugger for smaller jobs but sometimes I'll be able to get the chipper on with some chip on there and sometimes I wont bother with the chipper on site at all and just throw it all on the trailer and/ or in the van. I know my setup is unorthodox but I had the same dilemna when ruminating on it for fencing cos no one has it round her for fencing either and you don't know how much I fretted on it before pulling the trigger but it's turned out to be one of my best decisions. I appreciate your input :-)
  6. Ouch. What do you do for a living mate?
  7. I've had a tipper with tool locker and while it sufficed, was not optimal. I am 50% more productive for fencing with this combo and I earn approx 50% more than I did with a tipper. Did 6 years with a tipper so I know what I'm talking about. Trees, I'll defer to your better judgement but apart from access to tight areas I'm just not getting it. Stick a tracked chipper on that trailer with a tow bar and I can pull trailer, saws, ladders off road even which is more versatile than a tipper that can get stuck.
  8. I don't get your logic. What's the most weight you can legally carry in the highest payload van tipper? 1.2 tons? I can get 2.5 - 2.7 in the trailer and even with all tools loaded, another .075 of logs in the van and still be legal. I will be predominantly doing fencing anyhow and slowly slowly transitioning to trees so I have to keep the van. "If", I get snowed under with trees I'll get a single cab LWB tipper van as a second vehicle.
  9. Worse thing for a bad back is to be sedentary.. #apart from being sedentary then lifting cold of course.
  10. Ah California. Most democratic, liberal part of the world. I'll need another source. One that doesn't rely on government grants. A bit like, I'll need to see the credentials of the individual scientists that make up the "consensus" of science. How ironically incongruous that always strikes me as.. a scientific consensus... First it was global warming. Then when they couldn't sell it, it was climate change. I also strikes me that those who are sceptical of "climate" change, have all made their careers and/ or are retired nobel laureates and such. The whole thing stinks to high heaven but if you're bent on feelings of insecurity, climate change will fit your negative humanistic view and nothing anyone can say will change it.
  11. 97% is based upon all the scientist who believe that human have "some" affect on climate. "Based upon the sattelite data showing no warming, what is your opinion on this" -- Seeks advice from whispering advisor.. long pause... Refuses to answer question. Repeats the same mantra "97% of scientists concur that there is global warming"
  12. Please please watch this one. Even if you're dead set in your belief. If ever I saw a man evading an answer and forcing an agenda then it's in the video below. It stinks to high heaven
  13. It's illegal to be making a racket before 8am isn't it? And it's dark?
  14. I wholeheartedly disagree. Only place that I'd even consider debating is the environment. That said, the paris climate agreement was an exceptionally bad deal for the U.S whilst their greatest competitor was enabled to produce coal for another decade. Not sure I blame him for pulling out of a bad deal. I just don't buy the whole climate change thing either. Arctic is shrinking where as Antarctic is growing with an over all net gain in ice. Climate always has changed. I spoke to a retired environmental professor from Southampton university who was a customer of mine and he even said it's a load of shit in order to justify a hike in energy costs. Aside from his enormous ego and grabbing pussies I see him as a straight talker and linear thinker. Media propaganda skews the appearance of his intent massively IMO.
  15. Oooh, now I could eat an ommellete for breakfast and actually not have to force it. Especially with cheese and bacon. porridge though really is the shit for long term energy. I may need to snack around 2 ish but only if I've busted my ass more than usual.
  16. Only good thing about Nick Clegg is his highly bangable wife
  17. Yeah so I'm turning 40 in 2 months and oddly enough I'm feeling as fit and healthy as ever. Mrs is 26 though so... well... I feel 26 too haha Anyhow, I've developed a new routine. Basically, I get up and do my thing, sit there half comatosed for about half hour while I drink my morning coffee. I then make myself a large bowl of porridge with manuka honey, cinemon and milk. Hard to get it down as I am not hungry in the morning unless I'm hungover but I force it down. Well... shit.. stuff works! I basically work flat out from 08.30- 15.30 or the job is finished, whichever comes first. No lunch. If I have guys working with me I ask them if they want to do that and so far everyone has said yes. You beat the rush hour traffic. No sluggish downtime post lunch break. I find the day is faster, I get more done and I'm back early to the Mrs. OFC I stop for water of coffee from my thermos but that's minutes out of day. I have some snack bars in the van if I start to fatigue, usually 2 ish if it happens. Works great for me this new routine. 3 months so far and I think I'll be keeping it.
  18. Mate I can't imagine how it's possible to give less of a fuck! :-)
  19. Got it! I mean hmmm, I guess 2 days hire on the chipper would pay finance on 10k over 5 years for that month... I may be able to do it cos I was planning on paying deposit to do the April course but it's not gonna happen so August it is, giving me more time to save some money and/ or pay off existing finance. Cheers
  20. What not many people are aware of also and is THE most important thing IMHO is neurosteroids and their ability to aid in neurogenisis. Yes that's right. The brains ability to reproduce neurons! Fit body = fit mind https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5281566/
  21. Yep, when I saw that 99% mainstream media, government and corporations were vehemently against him, I knew he was legit. He has plenty of material to have a go at, jesus, the guy is a walking broadway show, but when you at video footage of him feeding fucking fish and they're banging on about how he could kill the fish, cutting the video showing the chinese president also pouring the entire container in, then you have to ask yourself wtf their agenda is. It's incessant too. I always knew the MSM was absolutely full of shit but thanks to Trump I'm now more informed of it. The BBC for example are absolutely disgusting with their left wing bias. Like unhinged...
  22. I broke my back 10 years ago and had an l2-3 spinal fusion. Was told I've never do manual work again and would have some form of discomfort for life. I said yeah fuck that, discharged myself 3 days post surgery. I did do my research though and rested while the fusion bedded in for 2 months as I recall and then went back to work. You are right to go back to the gym. Working out really helped me. Adopting properly lifting technique is absolutely essential of course but lifting and stretching prior to, during and post working out is a must, certainly as you age. Nothing helps my lower back more than deadlifting. I do use proper technique. I do use a hex bar and I DO use a belt. Don't care what anyone says, belts work. Properly manual handling at work is a must also. If I'm fatigued at work and find that I'm not adopting proper technique to pick up that innocuous pair of pliers (it's not the heavy stuff) or any laundry list of small pissy little items I stoop for 100's of times daily, I go home and start fresh the next day, adopting proper technique for the light stuff as well as the concrete fence posts etc. You're a big guy. I'm only 185lb at 6ft but no longer in training at the moment due to work load, I do get bigger, but yeah it's a different kettle of fish for the big guys which I do appreciate. Best of luck.
  23. I need to get back into reading. I used to read every day for years but last few years I've lost the desire or patience for some reason.
  24. Ta mate. I'm bearing all this in mind. That chipper you linked needs work but if I could get similar for 2k it might be what I need as to begin with I need to be careful with spending. Don't think it'll go in the van but I have a manual winch that I have been meaning to fit to the trailer for a while. It would be doable.
  25. I find him egotistical, crass and devoid of class and hilarious. He was FAR better than the alternative who is a parasitic criminal and professional victim. At least he it putting his country first and is not in anyone's debt. He can do what he wants and say what he wants. And the U.S economy is booming and he has created a shit load of jobs and he's anti fucking pc bullshit. He'd have got my vote. He's shook things up globally and I think that's great.
