  1. Thankyou for clearing that up for me. Great help 👍🏼
  2. Hi Guys, Been to look at a job today to fell a large amount of ash trees in a forest school that I believe I'll need to get a felling License for. I know the trees are also in a conservation area. Will I have to get the normal permission from the council and then apply for the license?? Or does the license take the conservation area into consideration?
  3. Thanks Chaps. My initial thoughts was double pay, that will keep guys working for me happy and worth while for me
  4. Hi guys. Anyone have experience pricing up night shift work? I've been asked to quote on some road closures work that has to be done out of hours. I want to be competitive but not undersell myself. Is time and a half too cheep?? Or is double time too expensive?? I'll be providing all the kit, chipper, ect ect
  5. Hi guys, Saw this fungi on a very large poplar that seems to be in decline.. anyone any idea what it is? I'm pretty useless on fungi ID
  6. Thanks Spud, that's a great help.👍🏼 Do you have any experience with the newer heads?? I don't mind buying brand new if its up to the job and lasts
  7. Hi guys, What's people's experience with the newer type of adjustable heads for the long reach trimmers?? I've heard some people say that the metal is very weak and breaks easily? I've found a few second hand older style ones on eBay (more of grey metal rather than newer white ones) but still going to paying near £200 for one. Am I better off just buying a new trimmer?? I've used an echo long reach and was impressed with it, especially how sharp the blades stay!!!

  14. Serial numbers are all intact and the chap seems genuine so no alarm bells at the moment. He said the machine has been sat around for a few months without use (it did have a thin layer of dust when I first turned up) so has me thinking it's something fairly simple to fix
  15. Also the engine speed lever was slightly loose and when one big log went through the revs dropped and rollers stopped. I'm assuming this is just a stretched cable and can be tightened up/ replaced??
  16. Thanks guys, I did remove the panel to inspect the blades and flywheel ect so a good chance it could be the limit switch. I'll give the chap a few days to see if he comes back with anything first
  17. Hi guys, went to look at a chipper the other day. It's 2018, tidy body work, only 350ish hours and looked like it would be a good purchase. Took some 6" logs to give it a good run and seemed to chip fine (the battery was dead and had to jump it). Went to restart it to check running from hot and nothing when key is turned, but you can hear the fuel pump (?) Ticking away) I walked away from the sale and the chap said he would get someone to have a look at it and get back in touch when fixed. Is it a case of the battery being flat?? Or something else? When not attached to jump leads nothing would happen at all (no heater plug light, fuel pump ect) The chipper is really tidy and local to me so would be great if it wasn't a serious problem but I would have thought it would start all the time when attached to a jump pack???
  18. Looking at upgrading my chipper to the 230 but unsure which one to get. Is the diesel better than the petrol? Or both as good as each other?
  19. Tip the bed up slightly while chipping. That's what I do with no problems
  20. I did a one day course with mediarb before Christmas and it was brilliant, couldn't recommend it enough. If there's enough people wanting to do a course he'll come to your yard and run the course from there
  21. I've been really pleased with them since buying them last may. Hoping to get at least another 6 months out of them. They're fully waterproof and comfortable from the go.
  22. I'll get the parts ordered and report back when I've got myself in a right mess and no idea how to put it back together 😂
  23. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/334700794152?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=xQIxBqowSs2&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=s3H9FM4-QVW&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY Could be worth a punt? Ive never really stripped a saw down completely and re built it. Suppose there's a first for everything though....
  24. Thought that might be the case 😔. I bought it second hand nearly 8 years ago so I suppose I've got my money's worth. Probably time for a new 550xp 😏
