  1. After a Google search phytopthora seems more likely, with heavily bleeding wounds. The bark was peeling off but didn't see the typical boot laces that you'd normally find with honey fungus. Thanks for getting back to me 👍🏼
  2. Hi Guys, Unfortunately I had to fell this chunky walnut because half of it was dead. The backside was bleeding heavily and spongy. Anyone any idea if what killed it? I've attached a few pics
  3. I've got a pair of these as well. Certainly cooler than my pfanners but only wear them on the really hot days because they're no where near as durable
  4. Cheers guys, looks like it's me just being heavy handed/ stupid.. I'll try the reverse turn tip and see how I go
  5. Anyone else have problems with the fuel caps cross threading?? My 550 has been doing it for a while and even after changing the cap it made no difference. I thought it may just be the thread inside being a little dodgy, but now my 3 month old T540 MK3 has started doing it!!! Is it something I'm doing wrong or is this a common problem
  6. Thanks guys, I'll have another look at cable mechanism, if not I'll take it to the shop so they can plug it in
  7. THIS ADVERT HAS EXPIRED!

  8. Hi Guys, I have a 550 that isn't running as it should. It starts, idles and cuts fine with plenty of power but occasionally revs up after cutting even when the trigger isn't pressed. The only thing I can compare is to is when a saw is about to run out of fuel and the revs increase. If the trigger is pressed the revs will then return to normal idle speed. Anyone got any ideas of what it could be? I thought the throttle cable may be getting stuck but I had a look and all seems fine
  9. One more vote for Cardo. The freecom 4x have been brilliant
  10. Thankyou for clearing that up for me. Great help 👍🏼
  11. Hi Guys, Been to look at a job today to fell a large amount of ash trees in a forest school that I believe I'll need to get a felling License for. I know the trees are also in a conservation area. Will I have to get the normal permission from the council and then apply for the license?? Or does the license take the conservation area into consideration?
  12. Thanks Chaps. My initial thoughts was double pay, that will keep guys working for me happy and worth while for me
  13. Hi guys. Anyone have experience pricing up night shift work? I've been asked to quote on some road closures work that has to be done out of hours. I want to be competitive but not undersell myself. Is time and a half too cheep?? Or is double time too expensive?? I'll be providing all the kit, chipper, ect ect
  14. Hi guys, Saw this fungi on a very large poplar that seems to be in decline.. anyone any idea what it is? I'm pretty useless on fungi ID
  15. Thanks Spud, that's a great help.👍🏼 Do you have any experience with the newer heads?? I don't mind buying brand new if its up to the job and lasts
  16. Hi guys, What's people's experience with the newer type of adjustable heads for the long reach trimmers?? I've heard some people say that the metal is very weak and breaks easily? I've found a few second hand older style ones on eBay (more of grey metal rather than newer white ones) but still going to paying near £200 for one. Am I better off just buying a new trimmer?? I've used an echo long reach and was impressed with it, especially how sharp the blades stay!!!
  17. Also interested in peoples opinions on this jacket. Thinking of getting one as well
  18. Hi guys, Does anyone use Google adverts?? I'm trying to drum up a few more leads but don't want to aimlessly chuck money away... James
  19. Any more updates on these?? Thinking of purchasing a pair for the hotter weather, but if they rip at the sight of a thorn I may stick to my sweaty gladiators

  22. Serial numbers are all intact and the chap seems genuine so no alarm bells at the moment. He said the machine has been sat around for a few months without use (it did have a thin layer of dust when I first turned up) so has me thinking it's something fairly simple to fix
  23. Also the engine speed lever was slightly loose and when one big log went through the revs dropped and rollers stopped. I'm assuming this is just a stretched cable and can be tightened up/ replaced??
  24. Thanks guys, I did remove the panel to inspect the blades and flywheel ect so a good chance it could be the limit switch. I'll give the chap a few days to see if he comes back with anything first
  25. Hi guys, went to look at a chipper the other day. It's 2018, tidy body work, only 350ish hours and looked like it would be a good purchase. Took some 6" logs to give it a good run and seemed to chip fine (the battery was dead and had to jump it). Went to restart it to check running from hot and nothing when key is turned, but you can hear the fuel pump (?) Ticking away) I walked away from the sale and the chap said he would get someone to have a look at it and get back in touch when fixed. Is it a case of the battery being flat?? Or something else? When not attached to jump leads nothing would happen at all (no heater plug light, fuel pump ect) The chipper is really tidy and local to me so would be great if it wasn't a serious problem but I would have thought it would start all the time when attached to a jump pack???
