Bit impatient with the uncorking though! Should have removed the foil first!

We where out rock pooling with the kids today so no kitchen stove on. I had to juggle onion rings, tripe cooked chips, garlic fried mushrooms, fried tomatoes and my life would not be worth living if the steak was not medium rare with a nice caramelisation on the crust, all on a single ring induction hob and an air fryer.

I was not going for finesse to get the second bottle out. 😁

I thought the divers would be on more than that tbh.

It’s no bad money considering they could be sitting on their arse for 21 days or more. It’s not like they need to get their toes wet to get paid.

I just did two trips back to back where I was getting over £1000 a day bonus to sleep on the recliner and clock watch till my next free meal. 😁

I’m an avid Scientist Fiction reader, Cixin Liu being my current favourite. He really opens your eyes to the scope of the universe and the potential multiverse. The idea that we’re the only intelligent life in our galaxy is extremely doubtful. The idea that we’re the only intelligent life in the universe is laughable.

Cixin Liu’s concept of “the dark forest” holds a lot of merit. That any intelligent life would and should keep silent in our galaxy since ours is around 13 billion years old and we’re extremely late to the development table and we’d either be exterminated or subjugated by more technologically advanced species.

Anyway, unless these other species have found a way to travel faster than light we’re safe from

all out stupid broadcasts to the ether.

Milling to me is a hobby that's starting to get out of hand :D

..is it necessary to kiln dry slabs and cookies / ovals after they have been air dried for a while before use?  Is it possible / right to sell just air dried stuff?

It really depends on its use and more critically the joinery technique used. I’ve had well seasoned /air dried oak significantly shrink when brought inside. Made my accurate work look sloppy. Had I used a different technique I could have mitigated this to a degree. We’re talking about 3-5 years air dried oak.

The BBC has issued an apology to Nigel Farage over a story on the closure of his Coutts bank...

    BBC inaccurate 😳😳surely not.

The amount of brain dead reets out there who solely form their opinions on what the media tells them to is astounding. And they’re allowed to vote….

Its little wonder we’re in the mess that we are.

Forage and his bank woes? He is just a customer.....if the bank don't like him and cancel his account, he shouldn't moan, just get on with life and stop trying to get sympathy for being a racist bigot!

Banks cannot judge whether they want his business surely?

    Cat got your tongue?

In what way is Farage a racist?

Little use, at a guess probably about 200hrs. I'd collect up a few logs each year and get the mill out in early spring to process them, that's all. It's always been stored under cover and oil changed etc. I've got several blades, one new and one needs a few tips replaced (a hazard of hedgerow/garden trees!). The only thing that needs fixing is one of the rollers on the carriage needs replacing again, they last about 100 hrs. I got the local engineer to turn the last one for about £15. Otherwise it's ready to work. As for how much, I don't really have a clue but I'm open to sensible offers.

    Cheers

Labour lost my vote some time ago. I suspect he'll get voted in because you'd have to be a mug to vote for the current government again.

So you won’t vote Labour and you won’t vote Tory. There’s literally no other party who is not a single policy party out there.

You admit labour are a shower of twats that could not run the U.K. Labour is and has for a long time been the party of “trust me” Tony, the biggest war criminal the U.K. has ever known. Shipman might add murderer to that.

Labour constantly clamoured for far more stringent Covid restrictions that the Tories and yet you seem to indicate you believe the Tories were heavy handed?

It looks like we’ll see another term of Tory rule come the next GE and as abhorrent as that is even you indicate that it’s better than Labour getting in.

You’re certainly a man of contradictions.

I sold my 2015 ranger last year, no rust on the chassis at all, or anywhere in fact.

Has to be the salt on the roads over there.

My brother has a 16 plate Ranger. He lives on a costal town in the N.E of Scotland. Zero rust from what he can see. When he called a Ford appointed specialist regarding the Chassis issue he’s been told his Truck was not built at a plant affected by the rust issue.

Its dropped a bit, but its also been added back to US exchanges today so it might have another little spike as the americans start purchasing it. They've basically not been able to purchase it since the court case started, at least not easily, which mostly put a stop to more casual investors.

    Absolutely agree Andy

As you know I’ve cut right back bud, I know 3-4 lads who are now going for their overseas days to totally step out of the UK tax system. We are talking of guys who were previously putting in a good 30-50k a year 🤷‍♂️you can squeeze people so far but eventually they say to hell with it. As you have seen on here there are still those who blame people at the bottom ( just as those calling the shots want you to) for trying to get on rather than looking at the bigger picture.

Can you imagine the amount of minimum

wage earners needed to replace someone no longer contributing £50,000 a year in tax?
Forget minimum wages earners, how much middle earners would be needed?
In Angus the average teachers wage is £36,000 a year and pays £4,700 in tax. You would literally need ten additional teachers on this wage paying tax to make up the shortfall of one of your mates dropping out of the tax game.

And before anyone mentions National Insurance these folk (Myself included) pay class 2 NI which is £3 a week.

So ten teachers (who are already a tax drain) needed for each of the 4 of your mates saying GTFO to HMRC. Potentially 40-50 teachers wage equivalent needed to replace the lost revenue of four disenfranchised ‘high’ earners.

You could argue it might increase employment in higher paying jobs as your employer might need 2/3 or 4 people to fill the gap.

Especially if rishi and his masters gets their wishes of having tax standardised around the world.

They’ll need to significantly need to add employment when you consider that someone on £20k a year pays tax on about £7500 which is peanuts. But opens them to a raft of other “benefits”. Potentially making their ‘contribution’ null and void.

Someone on £140,000 a year bringing their wages down by £20k a year will result in a loss of tax revenue of around £12,000.
Even if someone on £20k a year claimed no benefits (🤣) they’d pay £1500 a year in tax.
HMRC will need eight people earning significantly over minimum wage and who does not claim a penny in benefits to replace the lost revenue collected by one single ‘higher’ earner pinching his/her belt a bit.

The idiot masses will never ever compute the simple economic truths of Liz Truss proposals for prosperity.

Yeah, but I could earn my yearly salary in a couple of days doing what you do 😜.

The reality for me is exactly as you predicted. I will significantly reduce my working time to stay under the threshold. It’s a win/win for me.

And as has happened recently, thrown even more people into a higher tax bracket, so they're either working less hours or financially worse off.

    I’ll work less. :)

I did say England, I’ve worked and lived in many countries in Europe in my past. You may remember I’ve got a son in Spain, he didn’t appear after a two week jolly to the costa, he appeared when I was working there.

Eggs, you’ve no been outside of England for a considerable time have you? And popping over to Europe is hardly big shakes is it? Even then I doubt you’ve left England since Covid. I doubt I could find a more English -centric POV if I tried.
