  1. That could have been Pitlochry - which is only an hour or so from Glenshee
  2. With the weather as it is just now an amphibious vehicle would be more use than a car. I'd wait and see nearer the time as to what conditions are like before deciding - the west coast is much more variable than the eastern ski centres such as Glenshee, Cairngorm and the Lecht.
  3. One of the reasons I suggested the small Dynema slings is because they come with a certified load rating - saves any potential issues with gear inspections etc. Not sure that would apply to a webbing key fob?
  4. I used to just add a couple of quickdraw dyneema slings to my climbing harness when needing to carry a biigger rack of chocks and friends etc, Examples at: Wild Country / DMM Dyneema Quickdraws tape extenders / slings Pack of 6 | eBay
  5. I thinkthe 'axe' was actually a sledge hammer!
  6. Nice footage SP - where was that? Looks like it was out Helensburgh/Cardross way?
  7. I'd try and avoid injections if at all possible - we used to know some of the Liverpool football team in the '80s and they were regularly given the injections to keep them going through the season. Their bodies have suffered for it long term. Rest, anti-inflammatories and good physio should solve most issues, but for all of us the problem is being disciplined enough to properly rest the affected area. Maybe the festive break will give you an opportunity?
  8. Here you go Vespasian - educate yourself: [ame] [/ame]
  9. Agree with Stubby. You can't really have hydraulic pipes that are too large (within reason) - big pipes keep friction etc down and pressure up. Exactly the same with domestic fresh water plumbing - shower etc. larger bore pipes deliver greater pressure to the shower head due to reduced losses.
  10. My will includes that 'Fanfare to a common man' should be played as the coffin enters the kirk - wonder if it'll feature at his funeral? 2016 has been a hell of a year for people passing away - or maybe I'm just getting old myself.
  11. 'Birmingham - Manchester- Lincoln' is a hell of a long way from most of Scotland
  12. Disco3s had a 2.7 litre TDV6, whilst the D4 have a 3 litre TDV6 or STDV6 (The S standing for sequential) Both are superb towing vehicles - plenty of get up and go, but a good lump to give the required stability when towing heavier loads. A good D3 can be had for less than £8k - if you're serious then take a look at disco3.co.uk and check what vehicles are currently listed for sale by their members.
  13. That is serious gonad territory - what a stick!!
  14. This guy has some entertaining videos on You tube - not quite in the same league as Reg etc, and is a bity of a loone at times (esp re PPE) but I kind of like his style [ame] [/ame]
  15. SAccording to the Bostik website then yes - the data sheet can be downloaded here: Evo-stik 528 Contact Adhesive - We sometimes apply direct to the underside of the grp moulding, but also to alloy/stainless framing and also to4/5mm ply panels for larger areas.
  16. Sounds like the fuel pipe may need replacing to me (cheap and cheerful so always worth a try) If it is perished/damaged in any way then it will draw air when you try and open up the throttle.
  17. We spend a fair amount of time each year renewing the headlining on some of our boats. The accepted standard for this is Evo-stick 528 contact adhesive. If it can take the temperature and humidity ranges of a boat then a van should be OK too I'd have thought. Added bonus is that you get a free 'fix' also!!
  18. Not that far away from you: IBC Metal cage only | eBay
  19. Reprints can still be bought at: Books & Shop Also one about lumberjacks in there!
  20. Can deffo save most of it as outlined above. We had a punter try and fill one of our boats diesel tanks with water (muppet). Left it to separate for an hour or three, then drew off the diesel from the top of the tank before draining the remainder for disposal. Best to renew all filters etc, and bleed through to the injectors once your fuel pump has thawed out. Hopefully no lasting damage there. May also be worth drawing the injectors and turning over the engine in case any water got into cylinders to ensure you don't hydraulic the engine if there is water in it.
  21. Agree with Steve - I've had defenders, Range Rovers and early Discos, but have now settled on the D3/D4 (we have one of each) for work purposes. I've been lucky and (so far) have had good examples with nothing too major other than one gearbox which was a warranty item. Other than that it has been an air compressor and routine servicing - have just passed 165k on the D3. I did try a LC once but found the ergonomics were not for me (and VERY thirsty) In part it is a mindset issue - pickups 'look the part' whereas the D3/D4 doesn't, and many regard it is a 'luxury' vehicle. The D3 regularly goes places fully loaded where our defenders would struggle or fail, and has a larger rear loadspace than even the 110. You have to accept that the door linings will get damaged (unless you buy a commercial), and that there will be scruffs and scrapes. However, in 4 yrs and 125k I reckon I've lost about £12k in depreciation on the D3, and have spent approx £2k per year on servicing etc. Of the 125k miles, maybe 20k offroad and 40k towing trailers ranging from an old GM chipper up to fully loaded exhibition trailers across europe, 7.5m boats etc.
