  1. Just moved to a new area, and whilst checking out new trails with my hound, I came across what looked like a bomb crater (there are many of these in Suffolk and Essex, from when our boys limped home from missions over France and Germany, and ditched their cargo/ munitions before a possible wheels up crash landing on one of many local airfields) Anyway, we dropped into it, and found this old bent up oak, healthy enough, that resembled a big ol slug with a hobbit front door sized cavity, and inside a clutch of (thrush?) eggs....Some local kids had obviously had some fun building a tree house in its canopy, but long since abandoned. Me being a big kid at heart might just rebuild it for future generations!!....
  2. Oil resrvoir needs filling. ... Sorry couldn't resist
  3. If like you're logo suggests its landscaping related, start your own thread in the Landscaping section, and I'll try and help.
  4. I battled with my last truck, for far far far too long. The hassle of breaking down, or not even starting in the morning, getting it to a garage, and the days off work nearly crippled my business. I bit the bullet and went to the bank for a low interest loan. I bought a three year old Transit crewcab tipper and took the back seats out for tool storage. Its now a pleasure to drive to work each day, it looks smart on any clients driveway and does a fantastic job. And all for a tenner a day! Do it. You wont regret it.
  5. Sorry to hear this Peter. I lived in glemsford a few years ago and twice had my truck broken into, once on my drive and once outside the pub in broad daylight- and my yard cleaned out of saws and hedgecutters. Many others had the same happen to them. I deadlocked and chained everything down, alarmed the storage, and slept with one eye open, and an armoury of weoponry, should they ever come back. Its ironic to think that these scumbags could steal from someone so bloody handy with an axe!
  6. Turner Tool Hire in Sudbury or Chipper Tech in Old Newton, nr Needham
  7. Early Iveco. Bag of shite. Had one that ate injectors for breakfast, glow plugs, relays, wiring, warning lights on and off, even ABS even though mine didn't have it! Spent several thousands of pounds just keeping it going, with all the downtime off work for days on end and all spares having to come from main dealer (Norfolk Trucks) they nearly bankrupted my business.
  8. Greenways Waste Recycling at Risby (for a small charge)
  9. There is a power station in Thetford fueled by greenwaste and chip.. Could sell it to them ?
  10. Could try Monkeyworld.. They might use fresh chip on pathways:thumbup1:
  11. I'm in Suffolk. Since my last post I have not one but two companies responded and am in talks with!....
  12. Thanks for all your replies and input- I realy appreciate all the comments. Yes I guess I've been somewhat disheartened and badly let down of late. Usual business related guff I guess. But since doing some more research on tinterweb looking around and even applying for a few jobs I have come to realise Im better off moving forward on my own with the loyal subbies I have to call on for the bigger jobs that come my way, whilst farming out the tree work to friends and family that are in arb. Cheers guys.
  13. Walk away. Now. With your head held high. There is a reason we are un business.
  14. Looking for work within Arb. and Landscaping close to Bury St.Edmunds, Suffolk. Any firms/ organisations hiring in the area? Thanks.
  15. I am currently self employed and have 20 plus years of garden maintenance and soft landscaping experience within the domestic and commercial sector -fencing, hedge cutting, planting, and can use a saw. I have PA1/PA6 CS10 CS11 CS14 CS16 CS381&2 CIS4(P) Card Can drive >7.5 ton vehicle and tow a trailer/ chipper. Has anyone here made the move to become employed? (PAYE)- Either by a Landcaping & Arb Company or a Local Authority/ Estate/ National Trust/ or similar organisation? What would be the pros and cons? Salary? -OR would anyone even consider employing someone like me? I would quite happily make the transition if the right job came my way. Any input would be welcome and thanks!
