  1. I've been really interested in one of these but haven't gone ahead with a purchase yet. Please do let us all know how you get on with it (and a video if you fancy!!). Looks like a great piece of kit...
  2. Douglas Fir? I've always found that very hard on the blades.
  3. To me that sounds like you need to tighten the drive belt. Certainly double check if it's tight enough. I haven't heard of the cable stretching- certainly not in 20 hrs use. But, you do want to mill on full revs so it's worth adjusting the throttle cable to take slack out so that when the handle is depressed it's revving fully.
  4. Mine is doing the same and it's been stored inside (though taken outside for use maybe 10-15 times, mostly it's used indoors). I've had it since the summer- pretty terrible paint work I think!
  5. No, when I arrived to look it was obviously nicked, wasn't as described and I didn't trust the sellers so left it!

  8. I did this myself a few weeks ago. 1/ read the whole instruction manual before starting. It's pretty good and in decent detail but some things may not make sense until you read ahead. 2/ if at all possible use a flat yard to do it on. 3/ make sure it's all square and level before you mount the saw head. took me 2 1/2 days total by myself including mounting the saw head which took a long time!
  9. Thanks for all your comments and help. I've gone back over the tracking and whatever else I thought could be a problem and have figured out the problem is that I was using a jerry can for water which was previously used for red diesel- rookie mistake! I think it was the oil content that was getting on the blade and making it slip off. After addressing it's been fine!
  10. Thank you so much gents. Really appreciate your comments and help. On the 130max the drive wheel bearing is set and has a big sticker saying not to change it so I'm only adjusting the follower wheel. I'll clean off the blades with carb cleaner before putting on in case that helps. What kind of tolerances are people working too with their adjustments? So, the manual says 9.5mm on the blade should be protruding beyond the drive and follower wheels. Do you get this exactly right and do you expect to be adjusting the tracking most days you use the mill? I feel like there would be a market for somebody who knows these mills well to go round helping people to build them and walking them through the setup and fine tuning! For getting it square, I'll just put the legs down and get it level then loosen off all the bolts holding the cross members and just try and square it with a ratchet- does that sound semi sensible?? Thanks so much for bearing with my inexperience and questions!
  11. Hi there, I've bought a HM130 and have assembled it. I think i've got the adjustments right but the machine keeps throwing blades. Does anybody have some wisdom on this? Also, can I put the blade back on when it's been thrown off? They seem to get a pretty good kink in them- can I just hammer that out and then put it on or is the blade now scrap? Separately- like a right wally, I didn't get the mill exactly square- I'm only finding out now that I have everything together! The manual helpfully states 'make the necessary adjustments'. question is, is there really any way of getting it all square without taking it back to nothing and building it up again? Thank you so much!

  14. I'm looking for a person/people who are willing to get involved in planting work or tree work as required (our work is pretty much 50/50 split). A day or two per week for a self-employed worker. Top requirement is a willingness to work diligently. You don't have to be ticketed up to the elbows as we can have lots of different jobs requiring different skill levels. Our base is near Woking, Surrey- where we have a small plant nursery. But we travel all over the south east so some jobs will involve sitting in the vehicle for a while!   16. Hi all, I've been looking at moving to a mobile mill but looking at the woodland mills website (and Logosol) it seems that the trailers are not for road use. Is this correct? If so, is there a way of making them suitable for road use? Or, are there other mills available that are suitable for road towing? Many thanks in advance! Thomas
