  6. Hi Sandpiper, Don`t know about wood suppliers near you as I`m many miles away ... but for your roof it`s worthwhile going for fibreglass `Filon` sheets as they are very strong, more expensive but will last a long time, & not those lightweight plastic jobs that crack after a couple of years.

    Kindling

I mainly use newspaper to get the kindling going, them feed the stove with logs ...
  8. Hi Plwm, I bought the Forest Master Duocut FM10 last year & it split all my logs for last year & recently this years logs with ease & there was quite a few large diameter rounds to cut, I would certainly recommend it for the home user. I would advise getting the stand with it as otherwise you would need to build up the height with pallets etc, also the stand has wheels, so easy to store away when not needed. The ram stop saves a lot of time when the rounds are roughly the same length, I get someone to operate the splitter & I feed it which makes it a lot faster to process all the wood & get through it all in jig time! shop around & you should get a good deal .... hope this helps.
  9. I ended up getting the Florabest chain sharpener after reading your feedback. I bolted it onto part of a small pallet I had lying around so that it`s portable & I can use it beside any power socket as I don`t have room in my garage to set it up as it`s full of logs. Practised on an old chain & it works really well

  16. I am a domestic user & my wee 181 has kept me in firewood for the past 2 years without a problem, it`s light, economical & if the chain is kept really sharp it cuts everything that I ask it to with ease. I have a bigger saw but always reach for the 181 first!
