  1. Does anyone have any experience of these machines, makes, models, cost, we are looking at getting one in preference to a traditional processor but can't seem to get much info on them, they all seem to be US based companies. Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  2. Hi all, just to let ye know about some possible stolen saws for sale on done deal in my local town Mullingar. Done deal is like eBay but without the auction element. This guy has a lot of power tools for sale, which include some fairly distinctive saws, e.g. a fairly new husqv climbing saw with distinctive lanyard attached, along with two husqv ground saws that have Sugi bars. They are really unusual in Ireland, tbh I have never seen a Sugi over here. He also has lots of stilhs for sale. He is a member of a well known local tribe and we suspect that the stuff is being nicked in the U.K. or the north and is being sold here and vice versa. I can't do a link as I am not computer literate enough, but check out done deal, type in stilh chainsaw Westmeath and he will come up, sellers name is Martin. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

  5. We started off looking last year for one as we found it difficult to sell on large rings. Eventually went for a German black splitter. We bought directly from Germany as there is no dealer in Eire. Absolutely brilliant bit of kit, has transformed how we handle large timber in terms of labour, chains and petrol, not to mention our backs. We can also fill more loads per day as rings are broken down to generally 18 ". Works best on timber like beech/ash but less effective on chestnut and conifer as the soft timber absorbs the force of the screw. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  6. Thanks for all the replies, have had a couple of enquirers since promoting my page yesterday, I am going to try the sellers pages later this eve and see what is around me. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

  9. Well folks, Has anyone tried advertising with Facebook? We are trying to increase our sales of split seasoned timber, as well as our wholesale site sales. To this end we have created a page for it. I have never had a Facebook page before. They seem to give several options for promoting your business, any experience of which one best suits our type of business? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  10. He's Ben the Bear, a Japanese Aikita, all round anti theft device and babe magnet, I'll stick a photo of the handsome devil up later in the week Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  11. We are going to send this one back to the dealer as it's not cutting straight. I wonder if it's covered by warranty? Should that last one be in the overload section Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

  14. Could anyone advise me where would be a good place to buy some new blades for my A528? I used to deal with Redwood and found them sound but I presume they don't sell them anymore. Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

  16. My dearly loved 2008 361 blew up on Thursday. After getting her checked out it was discovered that the big end was gone but no other damage had been caused. My dilemma is that it will cost me €300 to repair. In the last year I put new piston rings cylinder into her costing another €300 or so. If I scrap her my other repair is down the drain and she had been running perfectly almost too perfect as she was out performing our newer 362c's which we have found to be quite a disappointment, giving us loads of problems. If the crank is replaced is there any other major component that could go wallop? I was told at the time I replaced the Pistons that new parts putting pressure on old parts will lead to disaster but didn't listen Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  17. Try Rob Tottenham in Offaly, Tottenham Timber 086 8362522 We can supply you with any amount of rings but not lenghts Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  18. I would say pseudomonas syringae aka bleeding canker, die back in crown is a common symptom as well as necrotic bark, I've also seen slime on the bark at the base. I read that it spreads through the ground water. The forestry commission have a good article on their website. A Dutch company has developed a treatment and it is licences to a company in the north of England. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

  22. We are looking for an experienced grounds person to work on a part time/flexible basis initially. We carry out domestic and commercial work, as well as a good deal of large roadside tree felling, the extraction of these trees and the distribution of the firewood from site. Experience and tickets for diggers, teleporters and tractors an advantage but not essential. Rates depending on experience. Please contact John Keegan, Porterstown Tree Services 00353860422354. 23. Used to only have a 36" on my 660, put a Stihl rollo es light 28" on last year for ringing up, savage power but a bit thirsty Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  24. Hi all, new to posting, although I have been a follower of the site for a few years. When I was getting started I was offered a job by one of the bigger firms. At the time I was working for two small firms raking brash. They both advised me not to go with the firm for the reasons outlined by both Sean and Roc. Shortly after I got a job as a trainee climber with a small firm run by a boss with very high standards, I stayed with them for 6 years and learnt a lot because of the experienced people I worked with. Have been running my own firm back home now for 8 years, Had a very near miss last year when felling a tree, thankfully no one or thing was hurt only pride and a lot of slagging. But I will never make that mistake again. What I'm trying to say is that as no one was hurt the best thing that can come out of the incident is that if any of them lads go on to work for themselves or anybody else is that they will never make that mistake or a similar one again Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  25. Noticed this disease over in Ireland about a month ago, looked it up online and identified it as cedar needle blight, is that the same thing? Whilst looking at several other jobs I noticed it on trees in different gardens. Then I came over to Uk to visit friends and noticed it on a very fine cedar that I have always admired down in Somerset.
