  2. Does anyone know of any old school tree surgery videos out there?. I am interested in watching them and seeing the difference in how things of changed over the years in tree surgery and the techniques and methods that were used back in the day. i have seen alot of films from the 1930s/40s of the loggers in california when they spike up the really tall redwoods and knock the top out with an axe and they are very interesting to watch. really looking for stuff from the 1970s/1980s which i have only seen one from then and it was Charlie and George chainsaw safety video. if anybody could recommend any or have any links to any videos that would be great
  3. what kind of gloves do you guys wear for climbing? i know alot of people dont wear gloves becasue they say that they slow you down and get in the way with carabiners and tools etc and i often hear the phrase 'Gloves are for puff's' which i think is a bit daft. i wear the 'Petzil Cortex Plus' Gloves when i climb and i like wearing them because they grip my rope really well but they can get a bit tricky when it comes to doing rigging work at college but ive got used to them now.
  4. Just finished my 2 year diploma in level 3 arboriculture and now looking for any tree work that is available in the north east of England and particularly (Northumberland) got my CS30,CS31,CS38 and CS39 and got my own p.p.e,climbing kit and a couple of saws aswell. would ideally like to climb but since im not in any work at the moment i cant really be picky so just looking for anything weather its part or full time. have had recent experience working for a tree surgeon for 1 year and done a few jobs for myself. have my own transport.
  5. Hi People Seen this photo the other day and was wondering what cut this guy is making on the tree he's working on? he has removed a branch and instead of cutting back to the collar he is cutting right the way back to the stem . it looks like an old photo judging by the fact that he is wearing no safety gear what so ever so i would guess the 1970s? does anyone recognise this picture and know what type of cut this is?
