  1. Been passed about, producers saying seller needs to replace them. Bought them off the internet so can't just pop round to the shop. Contacted Haix again today to find out what the score is, sent photos to both parties, still waiting for a reply. What do I wear on my feet if if I have to send them back to the supplier? For a high profile company the after sales is worse than the soles on their boots, if the soles are so good, why put Vibram ones on the new Forester Boot?
  2. I have contacted Haix USA , Haix UK and Haix Germany, who next? Haix on Mars? If the boots are falling apart so quickly they should be inspected and replaced without question then there would be no reason to run them down. Funny how the new Haix Forester Boots have Vibram Soles on them too.
  3. Your location might help , also check out your nearest NPTC assessment centre, they should have a list of quality trainers near to you.
  4. I bought a pair of Haix Protector Xtreme less than 8 months ago and worn them sparingly. They are the most expensive boots I have ever bought and I will never buy Haix again. The soles have crumbled away and there is an obvious problem with the rubber moulding. Been on to Haix who have passed the buck to the seller, when was the producer not responsible for the quality of its own production? Still waiting to hear back from the seller, like waiting for Godot. I have had various boots over the years, none have cost this much and all have outperformed them, Haix, you would do better to avoid at this price.
  5. Hi, I have used one many moons ago. If you prepare the material right, ie cut it straight to remove the forks, and the blades are sharp, it is a very useful machine, especially for narrow access work. There are other alternatives in the for sale at Abbeypro ( very reasonable and good machines) and the fantastic Greenmech CS100, more expensive but probably the best of its type build wise, hope this helps.
  6. Could also be Aesculus Indica, some of the pinks are Jaffas so you can't grow from seed.
  7. I am still planting Ash. Planted half a dozen Fraxinus Platypoda, Carolina, Pennsylvanica and some Syrian Ash today.
  8. How do you tell when a Wigan girl is having an Orgasm? She drops her Pie.
  9. Of maybe I just have a big job on that is too much for our Vermeer and needed a hire one and was let down at the last minute due to the previous hirer abusing the machine.
  10. If you have a good large tracked machine I would be happy to hire from you, perhaps your in a position to save the day?
  11. No, that's 5 days grinding with a Large Carlton Stump Grinder being followed by 6 guys landscaping and replanting the entire site.
  12. Booked the Large Carlton Stump Grinder for next week a while ago only to get a call from them on Friday saying the machine is broken and I can't have it. That's 6 guys I have to call and let them know the job is cancelled. All this due to the previous hirer ragging the tracks off it and damaging it beyond what would normally be classed as normal "wear and tear". If I hire a machine I treat it as if it was my own and it goes back in a suitable state. An apology was offered but does that change anything? Not really, perhaps I should have given them the phone numbers of the guys who are out of work next week and let them explain why instead of me, oh the joys of self employment!
  13. You could always give me a call to do your planting, no shortcuts and I will even backfill with Biochar.
  14. I agree, Scott Fraser is a fantastic choice as an instructor. I had been cutting for years and decided to do a refresher CS31/32 as I run my own small business and wanted to stay current and up to date ( did my tickets in 1996 ) at Reaseheath, Nantwich. He still managed to show me some new techniques and ironed out some minor bad habits that I had picked up along the way. The site he uses is also great as it is mixed age hard/softwood, very realistic preparation for the real world, and the site your cutting on is also where you do your assessments.
  15. Hi, the French regularly sell their firewood in one metre lengths, stacked a metre high then banded (1 cubic metre) commonly called a stere, my mate lives in the Dordogne, he has to store it 50 metres from the house and if it stays there fore more than one summer, he must spray it for termites so that his house doesn't get infested.
  16. Hi, I am looking to hire a Predator 50 for a week to grind out the stumps on some newly created open areas in a small woodland. I have used one before and really rated its tracked manoeuvrability. Does anyone own one and hire it out or does anyone know the best place to hire one in the Kent/ East Sussex area, preferably delivered to our site in Lamberhurst.
