Apprentices

Hi, I'm looking into taking on a apprentice through the careers scheme, I currently use self employed staff. However this can lead to a shortfall in staff during the busy periods. Any advice would be appreciated, Cheers
  4. I've got the schedule which was put in place in 1983, the trees are Birch and they are a lot younger than that. I'm pretty sure there are no orders on them when relating to them on the plans. But planning has advised me to check just in case.
  5. I've been asked by my client to check the status of TPO's on trees adjoining his boundary. I've checked with planning and there is a discrepancy on the schedule as the species of trees are not on the schedule for the area. But planning has advised that they might be covered and advised me to check with the Arb Officer. I've asked for clarification from the Arb Officer nearly a month ago and very little advice has been given. I've chased this up on a few occasions but just keep getting the response of I'll let you know by the end of the week. How can I proceed with this, as the customer is on my case with regards to starting the work.

    Tw125ph

Been looking at used 150's but they hold good money, and its a risk with any used machine. The 125's are in reach for me as a new machine, but I've always used diesel power so I'm not 100% on the 125.

    Tw125ph

Good point on the fuel the stats are 4 liters an hour, which is thirsty. My entec use 10 litres max during a long day chipping.

    Tw125ph

Evening all, I'm considering a new TW125. Probably been asked before but can I have some opinions on these machines. I currently use a Entec ch35 but its getting a bit old in the tooth:001_smile:. My business is only small and I cant justify a new TW230, without finance etc. Thanks
  11.
Hi, I might sell my 98 entec ch35, it's had a bit spent on it. New starter motor, all oils filters hanged, new rotor bearings, new anvils, new roller motor, new light board, spare blades, it does need a ram on the hitch. I'm located near Newport south wales, I'm looking for £4000 its a solid little machine and has served me well. If your interested i can be contacted on 07944903017, thanks Lee

  12. I've just started out on my own, I'm applying to get on a civil engineering companies supply list. They've asked for a few policies:-quality, drugs & alcohol, environment & health and safety. I've sorted the environmental, drugs & alcohol. Can anyone give me any advice on quality & health & safety policies. Cheers
  13. I've considered my pension, I've paid into a fire service pension for the past 10 years and probably till retirement at 55. That's nearly 30 years of pension contributions at present. I'm pretty sure we'll be ok on this front.
  14. Thanks for the replies guys, I work as well as a retained firefighter so this is extra income. There's probably no chance of reducing my hours due to me working in a team of 2. On paper it all looks good but its just taking that step after being employed with regular money/benefits for 20 odd years. My wife & family are fully behind me which is awesome. I'll keep you all posted, thanks again
  15. I've been employed by the same employer for the past 20+ years (a borough council). The pay has never been the best, and the career progression prospects are practically zero. I've ran my own small business along side my whole time job for the past 10 years & built a good rep/client base in this time. All my kit is paid for saw's, chipper, truck etc. I feel that the time is right for me, any advice would be appreciated. Cheers
  16. Does anyone use one of these machines, or similar. Any opinions would be appreciated, thanks
  17. Thanks for the info, I've got a job on removing self seeders from a grave yard. Terrain is good with good access, just don't fancy carrying it all out by hand. Cheers again.
  18. Has anyone got any opinions on the small ATV Kelfri forestry trailers, cheers
  19.

Hi, sorry to bother you, I'm considering buying a 150vtr. I'm using a 110 tipper at the moment, how does your 130 cope when it's loaded with chip plus the trailer and chipper.

Cheers Lee

  20. Hi, i require a cherry picker urgently in the south east wales area, give me a ring 07944903017 0r 01495790398. Has to be a 100ft spider lift or similar. Thanks all
  21. It look's more like a fuse going to that space rocket on top of Machen mountain:001_tt2:
  22. At home we were having work done by builders, they txt me one morning with the excuse that one had bad piles and the other couldn't lift his head off the pillow:001_rolleyes:. I suppose it was a bank hol and the sun was shining.....
  23. The outer blade on my entec 6" is wearing unevenly on the outer edge. This has only started to happen after I changed the anvils. The blades don't appear to be catching when turned over by hand. Thanks
  24. Hi, The outer blade on my Timberwolf TW150 is not wearing evenly. The blade is wearing on the outer edge, I recently fitted new anvils. I think it is just catching on the anvil, but when you turn the cutting disc by hand nothing seems to catch. When the anvils were fitted I checked everything was clean etc before reassembly. Does anyone have any ideas, thanks
