  1. If you had a fixed supply of green wood and cold not buy any more then your right the opportunity cost of the fuel would be higher than £40. HOWEVER The beauty of LogPro is that you can purchase more green wood at say £40 a ton and covert it into kin dried wood worth a lot more in less than 3 days for less than £10 a ton - here the cost of the fuel is £40 a ton because there is no opportunity cost. If you run out of 20% m/c fuel you just dry a load of fuel in the kiln (be it processor waste or logs). Our boiler will accept straw as a fuel but it is not accredited for this yet and so we can not permit it to be used as fuel. I cannot see where we mention straw on the website ? I hope this helps ?
  2. The calorific value of a certain type of wood is the same everywhere and so to generate x amount of heat takes x amount of wood. Our boiler is 85% efficient, I am not aware of the Swedish version but can only assume that it cannot be drying the same volume in the same time ?
  3. Thanks ! Even if the kiln dried logs are not sold at a premium Log Pro increases returns and profits. The key point here is that fuel'd by firewood processing waste and given that the kiln is FOC kiln dried logs need cost the firewood producer no more than air dried logs. In fact when you take into account the release of cash invested in drying stock (and the cost of this) they could actually cost less. Plus no more missed sales through running out of seasoned logs. Whatever your thoughts about Certainly Wood, you have got to admire the way that they have taken the market, LogPro is a market leveler.
  4. Agreed. You can also improve your cash flow by not having all that cash tied up in 18 months of stock air drying and free up space. Many of the people who have contacted us about LogPro have been resulting to burning off firewood processor waste and sawdust. Used as a fuel for the kiln you can get kiln dried logs for circa £2 a ton. Better for the environment and as you say, some serious competition for imported logs.
  5. This means you have to guess the volume required for the season and cannot react quickly to unexpected demand. Each to their own and by the sounds of your business model the LogPro is not for you.
  6. 20% in three days - absolutely, tested and proven. What's more we put our money where our mouth is and contractually guarantee performance. If the kiln does not perform as we say it does in the first four weeks of use then the firewood processor may reject the unit, we return the bond in full and pick the kiln up. As with ANY kiln dried wood, over time if the wood is dried to a lower m/c than the atmosphere it is stored in then yes it will reabsorb mositure
  7. Wow £100 m3 for scrap wood that's amazing - well done you ! Many of our customers cut green logs and store them in IBC's. With the LogPro they can now kiln dry these whenever they wish and especially in the winter if they need to dry to order. I imagine a solar kiln would be totally ineffective in the winter but you will know more than I about this.
  8. Not at all. It is totally different . The Logpro solves a number of real problems that firewood producers have ( cash and space tied up in stock, inability to react quickly to changes in demand etc). The firewood processor receives no income and there is no cost to them in us providing the kiln.
  9. A solar kiln wont dry 14 tons of wood in under 3 days and there are few other uses for waste wood and so as a fuel for the kiln it makes perfect sense
  10. In the next four weeks probably not. Thereafter yes.
  11. LogPro makes sense for the firewood producer without the RHI payments in that is solves very real problems without cash outlay (kiln dry to order for less than £10 a ton in days). On the basis we are currently offering LogPro the RHI is how we make our money (after about three years). I want to be absolutely transparent on the LogPro. It has cost us £250K to develop this and get accreditation. Each unit costs us £50K and we get the RHI income from it's use. If someone has the cash to run the risk of developing their own kiln then, if it works, in the long term , they would be better off doing just that and claiming the RHI themselves. For those that cannot do this then LogPro is a great solution.
  12. Sunderland is within our limits
  13. This is only a temporary restriction but yes you are right we will amend the site to clarify mileage tomorrow
  14. We provide £50K of kit FOC in return for a £5K returnable bond that is repaid whenever you decide to return the kiln or each year you keep it and run it for nine weeks of the year. This is not a cost to you because you get it back and is 10% of the commitment we place in the firewood producer.
  15. Far from it read the website - especially the FAQ section, a real solution to a real problem.
  16. Hello to the forum from a new advertiser. We have just launched LogPro. A Biomass firewood kiln capable of reducing 20% m/c on 14 tons of wood in less than 3.5 days for a fuel cost of less than £10 a ton. The kilns are offered free of charge to firewood producers that meet the minimum requirements. Further details at LogPro - Biomass Firewood Kiln Specialists
  17. Duh !! just looked at the 2nd pic at got the answer
  18. The first pic shows the IBC pallet down on the forks, so how do you get the ibc crate on its side to enable the tip ?
  19. Yes it does
  20. Brecon
  21. Thanks guys 5 pm's received now
  22. I will shortly be launching a business offering a Free Firewood Kiln to firewood producers who meet the minimum throughput and site requirements. As soon as we are ready for launch we will be paying to advertise on this site. I wondered if I could ask for five volunteers to look at the website (95% complete - I will send the link via PM) and give me feedback via PM. Really need to know if the site answers all the questions, any more info we need to provide etc. All I would ask is that until the business is launched the link remains between us. Really would appreciate your help on this and hope this post is not breaking any rules. Thanks in advance
  23. Thanks everyone that's a big help
  24. Just doing a bit of research on the firewood business and wondered "typically" how long into the new year do your firewood sales continue for ? Thanks in advance
  25. Thanks. I am working on getting the minimum throughput required for us to provide the system FOC down to 350-400 tons and the cost of drying down to £7.50 per dried ton . Hopefully we will be in a position to launch mid December.
