  1. Really sorry but tNot at this time I'm afraid
  2. Agreed the bigger industrial units will accept all sorts of waste wood. As you say the Log Pro will not accept everything. In terms of waste , it will run well on firewood processor waste and up to 10% sawdust ans 20% chip, though both sawdust and chip would have to be added at the top of the fuel whilst the boiler is running to avoid any risk of blocking the vents.
  3. Arghh all is clear now !
  4. Unfortunately not, a 20ft version cuts the capacity down by 66% (the boiler and equipment takes up 10ft of the container) and so it would be much less efficient . In the future we hope to develop a 20ft version with the boiler and equipment mounted externally but this will be some time away I'm afraid.
  5. "They are waiting for the current legislation to be redrafted" Then the current legislation remains in force until it is redrafted ! The boiler we are using was accredited in late 2013 and we will gladly show any of our customers who have ordered a kiln a copy of the accreditation should they request it. We would also be happy to show a copy of the accreditation to anyone visiting our site for a kiln demonstration.
  6. The kiln burns logs of firewood processor waste or waste uncontaminated wood. You claimed you sold your waste wood for £100 m3 hence the other posters comment
  7. No all is that required is that the fuel is clean (i.e not contaminated) , an approved fuel type ( in our case mixed wood) and that a record is kept of the fuel used and its source ( we provide a simple on line system to do this).
  8. We have our work cut out rolling out lot's of LogPro's and whilst I share your frustrations we are not able to help fighting causes with the WAG I'm afraid. A cooperative would work though the agreement itself has to be with one business or person. Our demo unit will be available from the middle of January and you are more than welcome to come and see the unit working. Just email us using the contact us form on our site.
  9. Thankfully if it does reduce it will only by a small percentage and as you probably know once the site is approved the rate at that time is fixed and index linked for 20 years regardless of any further reductions in the RHI. Seems like the government learnt from the fiasco with Solar where the scheme was just shut off without notice.
  10. Yes our calcs assume that the rate is paid at 2.2p pkWH. See LogPro - Earn RHI Income for details of the calculations. The cost of fueling the kiln for a week using logs would be £350 a week ( free with waste wood) so with the RHI at £646 there is god money to be made ignoring the value added to the logs from kiln dying.
  11. Totally agree - limited window for everyone to gain here
  12. Good question. One, unlike Solar they have made a firm commitment that notice will be given before the scheme ends and two just like solar once the installation is approved the income stream is assured whether the scheme continues to run or not. In my personal opinion there is less than an 18 month window here.
  13. I can see where you are coming from but..... I think for a deal to be good and work long term it has to work for both parties. In this situation we make money and so does the firewood merchant. Some members may be loosing sight of this. The RHI grant is there to encourage investment in using biomass as an alternative energy source. Kiln drying logs is not a new idea and there are plenty of examples out there of kilns being powered by electricity, gas and oil. Would we be able to offer the kiln free of charge if it were not for the RHI - the answer is no. If we were to sell LogPro without RHI would there be as a big an uptake - again the answer is no. All we are doing here is investing as the RHI scheme encourages us to do. The chicken farming industry uses vast amounts of heat and RHI has transformed the way that this heat is generated. We are applying the same logic to the firewood market and solving some very real issues that the firewood industry has in the process. Some may disagree with the concept of RHI but for a limited time it is here and once each LogPro is installed and signed off the income stream is there for both us and the firewood processor for the long term (if the RHI scheme stops the RHI income does not). Agree or disagree with RHI. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity that has a short window for uptake. Each of us is paying our tax and if we don't take the RHI opportunity someone else will. The cost to the country will be the same. £646 a week income, index linked and all the other benefits that Log Pro brings are in my opinion too much of an opportunity to turn down.
  14. The RHI element adds expense but not that much. Putting to one side the RHI element you could not make a kiln of this capacity, longevity or effectiveness for anywhere near £5K. For the avoidance of doubt our boiler has been approved under the new emissions regulations
  15. The RHI income is not for the amount of wood put through the kiln it is for the amount of heat (kWH) heat generated by the boiler used in the kiln. This heat is measured by a special meter and we have remote access to the meter. I hope this helps ?
  16. I can assure you that a lot of their supply comes from the UK . "the cash tied up in stock appreciates in value far more than it would in the bank" You invest the cash freed up in buying more wood with the kiln offering a greater throughput then ! Yes we make money off the backs of firewood merchants - we are a business ! Firewood merchants make money off our backs too - because they are businesses too ! It's up to the firewood processor if they market the wood as kiln dried or not. There is no real difference between a 20% m/c seasoned or a 20% m/c kiln dried log. With Logpro a kiln dried log can actually cost the firewood merchant less than a seasoned log (subject to volume) because the RHI income is more than the cost of running the kiln.
  17. Certainly wood dry to 20% and so this is very much the same market. I agree that if you are happy to have two years of cash tied up in stock, and an inability to match supply to fluctuating demand then you don't need a kiln. Not everyone wants to grow their business or adapt to a changing market and so it follows that not everyone needs a kiln.
  18. Are you for real ? Trust me the costs are real ! The container needs to last for at least 20 years so we use brand new containers which are then modified for this purpose. These alone cost much more than £5K An RHI compliant boiler that meets the new emissions tests and generates 175kWH costs substantially more than £1,500 !!! Then you have all the equipment required to make the kiln actually work. If it were possible to make a comparable RHI compliant kiln for anywhere near £5K why haven't you or anybody else done so ?
  19. I am pleased to announce that we have now included two new agreement options with our Logpro kilns that enable the firewood processor to receive the RHI income from a LogPro once the minimum usage has been met. This means that for up to 43 weeks of the year a Logpro user will be able to earn £646 a week for kiln drying their logs. Larger log suppliers will benefit from significant revenue streams and there will be a real incentive and funding for the smaller log suppliers to grow their businesses too. Full details can be found at LogPro - Earn RHI Income
  20. Thanks Ash. I too am a little confused by some of the feedback. I see lots of complaints on this forum about how companies like Certainly Wood are making it impossible to compete and then when a game changer like LogPro comes along that helps create a level playing field it gets negative comments. The firewood market has changed and those that don't adjust to those changes will get left behind. Your comment about the larger firewood producers is a fair one which is why we have launched two new agreement options that enable larger volume suppliers to make considerable RHI income out of their use of the LogPro. These options will also provide a real incentive to smaller supplier to grow their business. See LogPro - Earn RHI Income for details
  21. We earn 8.5p per kwh for the first 250,000 kwh and thereafter the income drops to 2.2p. We have also just launched two new agreement options LogPro - Earn RHI Income where the firewood processor keeps all the RHI income after the first 250,000kWH. This means that the firewood processor earns £646 a week for each full weeks use
  22. I'm not sure I understand your concern here ? When you purchase a car, tractor , firewood processor etc you would be very lucky to get a five year parts and labour warranty let alone a commitment to repair at cost plus 20%.
  23. Yes and we provide a simple online record keeping system for our customers as part of the solution.
  24. Whoops an error on our part we will get this corrected on Monday.
  25. No this does not generate electricity but does require a 2kw single phase mains supply see LogPro - Frequently Asked Questions for further details of why the power supply is required. I'm really sorry but without a mains supply we could not provide you with a LogPro.
