1. Thanks, Alycidon, all advice gratefully received - one of the reasons I joined Arbtalk was to hear from the experts, and to tailor the product to the demand. Cheers for all the comments above. Duncan
 2. In order to reduce our carbon footprint, all our wood is air dried in the Mediterranean. 12% is the lowest moisture content that we have recorded. 22% is our average. Of course very dry wood will give great heat and calorific value – that’s fantastic for a variety of fires and reasons. But if I take my house, which is wood centrally fired, by way of example, an exceptionally dry wood, whilst warming, is not ideal as I have to feed the monster constantly. On exceptionally cold nights (-20 and below) placing sufficient dry wood in the furnace to build a constant temperature around the house, lead to parts of the furnace melting as the fire burned too intensely, and 10 – 15 kgs disappears in half an evening..... On the other hand, we are new to the Uk market, and if 22% is not good enough for the high end UK customer this season, we will adjust the product for next year and strive to hit the mark.
 3. Hi Alycidon, sorry to get back to you late, but it' been a hell of a day. If you want a reference regarding any aspect of reliability / delivery and quality, please speak to Niall Whyte at The Real Firewood Company in Duns, who was our first customer ever. I look forward to hearing from you and hopefully supplying you with some top notch wood. yours aye, Duncan
 4. Thanks for the above message. I appreciate it. What is the best way for me to get those references to you? Once you've heard from them, we can chat about your potential requirements. Cheers, Duncan
 5. No need for any apology - I'm delighted to get questions like this. I'm very aware of the emerging security challenges caused by climate change both in terms of carbon exchange, fuel and food security and which will have to be dealt with by our children. You don't have to look far back in history to see the impact of rapid onset climate change on human security. So, not only do I appreciate your concern and directness, but I worry alongside you. All the best, Duncan
 6. Hi Alycidon, I started off as a small consultancy in addition to my full time job. I saw an opportunity in the biomass market a while ago and was working slowly towards realising it but was overtaken by the market and am now working my butt off to catch up, in addition to my full time job. You can take a look at my linked in profile to see what that is - Duncan Spinner. As for your question whether anyone has bought wood from us, yes they have and I will get permission from them first thing on Monday morning to let you know privately who they are. It would be great if you were onside given the number of people who are, understandably, concerned about buying from a new company with a website that mentions nothing about wood! Will drop you a line Monday morning with references and have a great Sunday. Yours, Duncan
 7. Hi Arbmark, The simple answer is yes, of course I care. I have been involved in post conflict reconstruction in Bosnia since 2001, working in different areas to combat the exploitation of humans and natural resources. Specifically, I directed intelligence operations against illegal logging in 2001. In addition to that, our company was the first to initiate the implementation of the Kyoto protocols in the private sector in Bosnia. There are more international organisations here monitoring the entire supply chain than probably anywhere else in Europe. I hope this helps to answer your question. Yours, Duncan.
 8. Hi Ben, You are absolutely correct to ask about bio security. Although I've only just begun importing this wood, the idea began 3 years ago and it has taken me this long to get all the checks and balances in place. My company has been in extensive consultation with the Forestry Commission to ensure that the profile of the wood and the areas where we source it from does not pose a risk to the UK. All wood is FSC and SGS certified and in addition, our packaging meets ISPM 15 standards. None of our wood leaves the depot unless it complies with UK and EC plant health directives. My reputation is more important to me than profit and this is why it has taken me 3 years to ensure that the groundwork is in place before I made any move to import. Either my partner or myself have additionally inspected every facility before we engage them. I'm delighted you asked this question - it means my 3 years of prep were not in vain! In army speak "prior planning and preparation prevents p**s poor performance" All the best, Duncan
 9.
Yes, we can deliver to your door. If you send me a number, I'll give you a call to find out a few more details. I am up a hill in Bosnia inspecting stock, but have a mobile and skype capability. Cheers, Duncan

 10. Depends on the volume you require, the type of packaging and the delivery destination. We have options for bags, pallets and crates. For the pallets, the build quality is dependent on whether you want to resell them or break them up for kindling. There are discounts for volume, but we would send a test container first for you to assess the logs - all logs are split beech. If you give me your details, I can put together a quote for you. Also happy to give references from uk buyers. You can't be too careful...

Hi Greendeltalimited, I am in the market for an arctic load of seasoned hardwood. I am based in Shaftesbury, north Dorset, are you able to help?

Regards Marc

 12. Give me a shout if you end up needing those extra artics............started importing logs 2 weeks ago and the response has been fantastic! I can send you up to 30 a month, no hassle
 13. If we worked in the co-op, where would we go robbing at the weekend???
 14. She started off as a lawyer so she could sue them for you too!!! Failing that, she's a Geordie so you could use her to cut through logs with her bare teeth...... Hope she doesn't read this post
