1. It's worth speaking to Doug at cutting solutions.
 2. Well mine has arrived and i'm impressed. I'll replace some of the fixings with nyloc's but other than that for £65 its a good buy!
 3. Well I was going to build one but for this price and the reviews so far it's not worth the effort! 30" bought!
 4. Unless you're splitting some seriously gnarly wood i'd go with large splitting axe over the maul. I've got the maul and while its a really nice axe it soon gets too heavy! Or maybe i'm too weak!
 5. The Fiddles Hard Wax Oil is great stuff as is the Osmo floor oil. I've used both and I think I prefer the Fiddles product but there isn't much in it. The Fiddles is a very thin and solvent rich oil which you paint on then immediately wipe away the excess, if you want to stain the floor this is a great product to stain and finish in one hit. The Osmo is a traditional oil (much thicker than the fiddles) which you allow to soak for a short time them wipe away the excess. I'm not to familiar with the Osmo range to know if they offer a stained version as well. Don't use a varnish as you'll just end up with the same problem a couple of years later, where as with an oil you can keep topping it up to maintain the finish. Have you got any way of telling if the boards are solid oak or engineered oak? If they are engineered a little more care is needed to ensure you don't sand through the veneer into the plywood below.
 6. Where are you buying quality seasoned hardwoods 80mm thick for £20 a cf because I'd like some too?...
 7. Once you've bought the wood, machined, glued and then cleaned it up I bet you wouldn't be far off £350 worth of material and time....

Evening,

I been reading the milling forum for a while and just signed up.

In the next couple of weeks i'm after some seasoned boards, around 15cu ft in 1inch and 5 cu ft in 2inch. The 1inch is predominately to be milled into floorboards so quality doesn't have to be fantastic. 2inch will be for a my kitchen worktop so i'd need some fairly clean boards, oak is my first thought but i'm open to other suggestions if you've got other timbers available.

I'd need them sent via courier to north Shropshire.

Could you give me a rough price please?

Thanks, Andrew
