  1. Hi All, After Thursdays and Fridays every week. I have my own transport, based in Harrogate however I will travel. Have CS30/31/38 and I am doing my CS39 next week. I have my own climbing gear and saw Won't say no to full time if anyone has anything going. Let me know what you have! Thanks
  2. Haha I only got it yesterday, comfiest one I've worn yet. Think I'll go hang in a tree and try set it up. Get the back rest a bit higher up
  3. Just struggling with the back rest on mine not sure where it's supposed to sit. Ideally need a few hours with a tree and just hang off the ground changing it
  4. Just got my climbing kit and I haven't ever set a Harness up to suit me properly yet. The ones I've used at work have been bang. Just want to know how to achieve a good fit. It's the back rest position that I am struggling with, not sure where it should be? Anyone help? Cheers
  5. I've got a Hero 3+ Black Edition for my MTB, couldn't reccomend one enough, used it underwater, dropped it everything, cracking piece of kit. Really good quality, I am yet to use it with the Tree Work heck with ybut it'll used sometime soon.
  6. That hitchclimber looks like it'd be quite effective! Used a Lockjack Sport today for a good few hours, found it ok to use. In regards to my back problem I am starting to think that it maybe from not having a well fitting harness when I did my CS38, used one that fitted well today and I haven't got any pain at all. Cheers for all the responses, opened my eyes up to other devices available
  7. Hahahhaha, if only there was such thing a Tree Surgery School Hmmm given me something to thing about, my boss uses a ZZ and isn't worried about it breaking and I found it pretty foolproof. Hmm decisions, cheers for the input guys
  8. Haha I enjoy climbing, mewp would be a tad on the expensive side. I understand that, I can use the prussuck system it's just given the option I'd like to have a device in my climbing kit, no point in making it more uncomfortable for myself when I can use something to ease the strain. Single line? Instead of having both ends of the rope attatched to you is it one end wrapped round the branch and then just one end down to me?
  9. I have acess to a Lockjack so I'll try get my mate out for a play somewhere to get a bit of work on one
  10. Hahah I'll try make sure that doesn't happen! Must say the ZigZag was really easy to use and looked easy to set up. Just want to buy once and buy right so I don't have to think about anything else for a few years.
  11. After watching the video of the Spiderjack it does look like it'd be easy to jerk about a lot.
  12. Looking into buying my first climbing kit and I am debating either a lockjack, spiderjack or a zigzag. Which do people prefer? Main reason I am contemplating it is that I haven't got the greatest back, I would like to preserve it for as long as I can I've heard from various people now that it helps put less strain on the back. I've used a Zigzag and found it easy to use and simple, had a brief go on the lockjack as well but didn't find it as smooth as the Petzl! Opinions please
  13. Haha I've got 11s and need 10.5, sorry man
  14. The woodwalkers were comfy as well when I first got the, kind of thinking the Meindls would be a good shout
  15. Got some Meindl Woodwalkers at the moment but they are a tad too big for me so I am looking at some new ones, looking at Meindl Airstreams or Arbortec Profell Xperts. What's everyone opinions on them? Heard a lot of good things about the Meindls.
  16. My boss is looking for a subby, got a lot on at the moment and needs some more people on the team. Good bunch of lads to work with. Tree Surgery ? Tree Felling ? Hedge Cutting ? Harrogate ? North Yorkshire Contact Ian Lythe on 07825575914
  17. Need work for the 18/19 of this month in Yorkshire, within 25 mile of Harrogate Got my 30/31 and my 38, can cut most hedges to a decent standard, still working on conifers! Also looking for Saturday work around the Formby area for Saturdays, visit my Girlfriend most weeks so it'd fit in nicely Cheers Sam
  18. Has anyone got any tips? Is it better to start small and work my way up? I've done a few but I never take enough off
  19. I paid £600 odd for my cs30/31, just search for CS30/31 near where ever you live on google
  20. Now then, I am currently out in France but I feel like I am wasting time that I should be using to progress with my career. At the moment I have my CS30/31, I will be in a position to do my CS38 when I return along with my cat B+E license. I am very keen (so I've been told), fit, hard worker and I love the work. I just want to be the best I can. I'm a fast learner as well. Ideally looking for work around North Yorkshire (25 mile circumfrance from Harrogate) My Girlfriend lives in Formby so that could also be a good shout if she'll let me live with her Ideally need to know by Wednesday so I can get my bike taken home etc. If anyone has anything full time give me a shout, I'll trial work if needs be. Cheers Sam
  21. I'm working for Drift Riding Holidays as their Photographer, I've just seen the the stumps, but Joe that sounds about right for the cut, they're all on slopes so that'd make sense. I wish I was working out here doing tree work, be loads of fun
  22. Currently out in the Alps, A lot of thinning in the woods is going on and I've been observing some of the cuts (learning and that) and they've done this cut which I've never seen before. It's a normal cut but the back of the cut has a triangle cut out the back of it. Sorry if it's not a great description I'll try get picture if I can.
  23. I think for that one it depends on the scenario... for example if you are putting them through college etc then you can pay a smaller wage as you are funding their education and all the PPE etc, and more often than not they are living at home and have little living costs. In my case I have been to Uni and am now having to retrain (own fault), I don't live at home and have a car to run etc and bills so I'd be happy with similar to what I am earning with Asda at the moment as I can just about live off that, but I also don't have much interest in going to college so theres a huge cost taken out of that. However I am at that age where I understand that I am going to have to do some reading myself and learn off my own back but I kean to make a career in this so I am prepared to read off my own back. Also I have my own PPE already and will sort my own harnesses etc out when I need them, although I wouldn't say no to a second pair of trousers if I was going it 5 days a week
