  4. Petzl Navaho... Yale xtc plus ... Yale magma for a Blake's ... Marlow boa for prussaks and some dmm krabs, working ok for me !
  5. I'm maybe gonna be shot down in flames or stoned to death for asking this .... But does anybody use the folding silky's ? I just want something to keep in a rucksack or for use on bushcraft sessions at my activity centre .. No need for chainsaws !! Thanks
  6. Hi talismanfisher, I work down at the qe2 centre in manor farm, I spoke to Alex and co this morning about climbing in the park ! been given Dave's email to contact him, obviously as the park is relatively busy at times it would be a matter of finding a quieter area away from the dog walkers ! It's a real shame that insurance and liability has to come into the situation when this is being done for recreation !
  7. I'm hoping to catch up with the rangers in the country park where I work to see how this could work too, there's a couple of nice beeches that I want to climb ! I'm only a beginner just looking at getting my first rope - probably a yale xtc plus ?! and prussaks to help build up confidence ! I've not got any tickets in tree climbing but bat rock climbing tickets so not a real novice with ropes ! not got any insurance either but would be willing to sign a waiver to relieve any land owner etc.
  8. Army surplus shops must have something !! Or a wayout thought would be to get hold of some canvas and make your own !!
  9. Wow ... Cheers for all replying ! I'm based in Southampton and work in manor farm country park for those that are local! Managed to book onto the treekit rope day so hopefully get to catch up with a few people that want to rec climb.
  10. The event sounds good !! Is it open to beginners, have a little experience as have done a course run by Goodleaf on the Isle of Wight, recreational tree climbing endorsed by lantra.
  11. Wow 225 views and not one reply !? Guess there's no rec tree climbers in Hampshire then !! Have to go play in the oaks and beeches by myself then !!
  12. Hi Just wondered if there are many people in Hampshire that go out rec climbing ? Looking at getting my first rope and gear, have done abit of tree climbing but would like to get out more ! So far climbed on blakes and prussak or footlock, but have played with hand ascenders and gri gri's on static climbing line ! Cheers
  13. Hi I'm too looking for my first rope for rec climbing! Done abit of tree climbing on rock climbing and abseiling ropes but now looking for a dedicated tree rope ... Have done abit of climbing with Goodleaf on the idle of wight and liked the yale xtc, seems to be a good hardwaring and affordable rope, but what length to go for ???? 25m and save abit of money for other toys, 37m seems middle of the road or 45m and some never gets used... I realise that a shorter rope would mean that you might have to change anchors when coming down, What do people recommend please . Thanks
  14. Yeah Phil is still there ! Given up trying to Multi task ... Does work for me ! Yeah get in touch if you want to dump some chip ! Cheers
  15. You must be confusing us with another centre, either the scout site or the farm ?! Nobody called John here !!
  16. Hi Yeah !! I work at the qe2 activity centre in the park and always need chips for the ropes course and for mulching around the allotment our day service run Thanks Kerry
  17. Hi I work at an outdoor activity centre in bursledon, Is this too far away ? We're always using chip to cover the ground of our ropes course ! If you want to dump it your more than welcome !!
  18. Hi Reckon you should be ok, we travelled France for four months and never had an issue !! Loads of sites to go at !! Only place we had a slight problem was in Bayeaux - but it the 60th anniversary of d day !! Still found a site tho !! Have a great time it's a great country to visit !!
  19. Your best bet is just go over and find one when you get there !! as you say they are everywhere, some of the smaller cheaper ones wont be advertised. There's a great one in Bayeaux I went to a few years ago if your interested in seeing the ww2 beaches !
