A few replies today nothing exactly what I'm looking for as yet but there's still time !! Not heard from capel manor yet that's the one I'm waiting for
  2. No work today so jumped on the bus and went exploring in Palma! The temperature reached 20 degrees today so strolling around was lovely! There were quite a few musicians busking all of them were very talented.

  6. Evening all !! I have compiled an email to send out to colleges and training facilities and it has been proof read by the fantastic mr silky fox. So now the question is where do I send it ? Can anybody suggest anywhere, where they trained or have heard good things about. It doesn't matter where it is I have moved to Mallorca for work so up and down the uk is nothing. Stay safe Deeco
  7. I shall look into it in the next couple of days, thank you
  8. Lanark, central Scotland.
  9. I clearly should have looked into this further I'll be sending out some emails I think !!
  10. Ok I'm after some advice, When I was at school myself and my teachers looked into a college course for me to go straight into a after school to get my tickets etc but we were told I had to be eighteen to get on such a course because you can't use a saw in a tree or climb until have turned eighteen so I thought this option was out of the question. However today I have been told this may not be the case and that some colleges do take under eighteens? Is this correct ? Does anyone know for certain which colleges do this and for what courses ??
  11. Today's job ! A simple pruning of a palm. We were all done and cleaned up by quarter to ten ! There was some stunning scenery on the job this morning Ps hope the images work I just can't get the hang of this ipad and tap talk nonsense lol
  12. Can you remember any of their names ? Certainly sounds like them lol
  13. Thanks worcs! Sounds like solid starting point. Until then I'm unable to work or even wipe my arse with this darn hand so hopefully a speedy recovery then back to start all over again with a positive attitude as always.
  14. Thanks mate. I'll give you a shout when I'm back will defos be after some shifts it'll be a working holiday from my working holiday if that makes sense. tell slum dog to get me added on Facebook as well please. Stay safe
  15. Taking silky's advice and staying positive! A couple of days to heal up and I'll be back with a vengeance. No tree to big, no branch to long ! So my question is.. What kit would be good to start me off I was thinking... * rope ( something compatible with spiderjack or zig-zag incase my rec climbing gets adventurous) * a couple of prusik loops * krabs x5? * we have a decent enough petal harness but my own would'nt do any harm if I can get a good price * rope/kit bag * long lanyard that can be used as a second climbing line which would suit the tree's we prune * cambium saver ( we work on very rough trees so I would say this is essential) So.... Help ! Can anyone offer suggestions and advice ? I am on a budget but I believe in buying the best and I would rather be skint and safe than rich and falling out a tree !!
  16. Today's job was to trim a few trees surrounding a villa under a stunning sun rise. however half way through the day my hand was destroyed by rope burn and I was as much use as a chocolate kettle. When I arrived home I cleaned the hand a burst all the blisters and tried to sleep off the pain to no avail I'm now very frustrated with myself and feeling awful about the prospect of not being able to work. No work tomorrow as the truck is getting repaired so a day to heal up. hopefully I won't be in agony after a nights sleep.
  17. I'm very lucky to be in the position I'm in and I will never take it for granted. Doing what I love in a fantastic place is more than I could have wished for at this time in my life and that will give me the drive to keep going and to always learn and progress in all aspects of life.
  18. No Paul here nope
  19. I don't think a couple of palm trees can be compared to silky's fantastic adventures but I'll certainly try my best !! Thanks for all the support !!
  20. Ipad is only letting post one picture per post apparently ??? and they are all the wrong way round anyone know why this is ??
  21. First day on the job and already got the boss lunging !!! . By the time we left. It was blue skies and the we were all in t-shirts My PPE was being admired all day and kept me very cool once I opened the vents on the back of the legs. Things are done very differently here. The guys might not have anything on paper but they have vast experience and know their trade very well. I told the boss I would be buying kit as I go and doing some rec climbing, he has never climbed on a rope like we would back home and was thrilled at the idea and said he would also like to learn. When I was here in October I noticed the boss climbing with a bow saw over his shoulder and I told him about the fantastic silky fox brand that would make his climbing a lot easier, when we arrived on site today he pulled out a new silky !! Even in my absence I have made changes the silky done 95% of the work in the tree. A saw was only needed for the two biggest limbs ! There is no arbtruck in out out fit and the waste filled a skip delivered early this morning and the logs were picked up by a friend of the boss. All in all a very enjoyable first day it feels great to be working again after not working for over a month!
  22. airport lunge !!! just off the plane start work in the morning ! Very excited
  23. Thanks for all the support guys. I'll save my first lunge for the airport I think
  24. Thanks mate. I have the opportunity to do something I love and not many people my age can say that so I intend to make the most of it. Just bide my time until I can go to college and have something on paper. Age restrictions are a necessary evil but such a pain.
  25. . PPE came today very pleased with it can't wait to get out there and put it to good use !
