  1. Hmm all good advice and apreciated. Well I've got so much wood I can mill up why the hell not i think start selling some planks etc I'm sure I will make it back

  7. I worked in OZ for 6 months. Best thing I've done in my life! Worked in Melbourne and Brisbane, got a list of companies that are cool if you need them. Seriously so awesome there. Gonna live there one day.

  10. Erm no experience in carpentry at all I'm just a tree monkey! My father in law is a very skilful carpenter (45 years exp) so as you can imagine I have access to lots of tools. Yeah any advice is appreciated
  11. Very good point. In the mean time I'm going to work on other projects. Might make a butchers block and some coasters. Just need so,e ideas of things I can work on. Bear in mind I can get majority of wood and size

  14. As some of you know I'm working on a very large oak ring trying to make it into... 'Something' anyway. I literally am a total newbie and wanted some ideas on what I could make? Nice and simple

  18. Lovely advice mate, I think I will clear gloss it, perhaps make a table. I'm engraving it first! I've found a real love for wood craft that I didn't know I had!

  20. Hello Simon, That's some great advice I think I'm going to pin the bark and some ply to the base to hold shape drill the hole in the middle. Then I'm going to wet sand to a very very fine grit then let it dry and varnish or gloss it. What do you think?

  24. Father in law is a carpenter so maybe a very thick wooden frame drilled into the back might give it a chance?
  25. That's a good idea mate or even just a nice even well placed hole couldn't look to bad I guess lol
