I am not just waiting for hi line have others i am waiting for plus have to go to south brent to look at a hedge laying job and to brixham to look at some work next week. It's not always what you know but who you know.

Hi line did call me back and i had to send in a email with all my tickets and skills and the work i have been doing. Trouble is they are looking for climbers not groundies like me but the nice young lady i spoke to thinks that it should not be a problem and will see what she can do but no promises. She will get in contact with in two to three weeks to let me know what's happening.

Thanks bald monkey i have set some goals and am working to tick them off my list, it is taking a little while to get them done but i am getting closer every day to tick them off. I am looking forward to taking car test hopefully sooner rather then later, have got some work to do no pay but work just the same and it is in the line of work i like as it is a hedge laying job at the end of my garden.

If people put post like this it encourages people to look ahead and lift your head high and sometimes it helps more then belly crawling. It makes you stand up as someone out there know what you are going through, if people can encourage you to lift you head up and look to the future and the brighter side of life is that not better then putting them down. I will but if they haven't call by the i have a few others to try, not as close as hi line but same work. chagford is ok just some of the people that live here can make life hard just with gossip they make up.

I hope it keeps going like this now, I will wait for the call in the morning and go from there. If i don't get the call i have other options to use if need be hope i can get the work i am into doing and know what i am doing. And one day get my own 4x4 to travel with.

I have found out information today that could give me a boost back into work. I think it was my fault as looking at it the wrong way round i found out who to take my car test with and do all the test in one week and i can get help with doing a business plan and the advertising of it. Feel better now as made some phone calls to find potential work and it is looking better then expected. And if need be they will help organise it for me to get more tickets i will have to pay but they will set it up for me. I could get financial help with it but wish to pay for it my self as things are looking up just a little.

i hope so as he is in the office most of his time. I am trying to sort car test out now just trying to find out if my full tractor licence is provisional for car when i find this out then i can start the ball rolling.

I won't hold my breath and will try other places but hi line sounded like i stood a chance with the guy i talked to.

Just to tell you that i called hi line this morning about work but the person who deals with employing was not in today and they will call me tomorrow. And i am planning to take my car test asap hopefully with help of a old friend.

Not in chagford i am just as well to walk as no one will lend anything here. Plus i was going to make enquires in getting funding to take car test with job centre in morning. friends are slim around here as not in pub every night. off to bed now and get up early to make calls.

I would cycle around if i had a bike but only got the phone and my legs for now.

They have more over heads so price is probably higher then what i was charging but what ever i charge i must cover cost and make a profit to get what i need.

I use to ride bike to work then i found work closer and got rid of my bike then got tractor then that went wrong now thinking car just hope it last better then the tractor did.

When i had work it was all local and my tractor was just the thing for getting gear around and when i worked on farms i only needed a tractor licence now work is more outside of the village a car or 4x4 is more needed. I can drive them just need to take test to make it legal for me to go on the road. Thank's ash and happy new year to you to.

Window washing around here the big firms have got most of that covered and someone else has the rest covered.

I had two mowers one small and one a bit bigger but with mower you push them along the road very far and you wear ot the wheels as most of them are plastic and don't tolerate that kind of treatment hence the transport and the price i charged (£3 ph )back then and lost out what makes you think i can get back in now. The price of fuel is up so doing it for that price i could be out of pocket.

Yep and when i started so did everyone else then i had no cutting to do and cutting grass is ok but most of the places here you need to have your own mower and getting the gear around is not easy without transport. And i did have an old david brown 880 when i was cutting and had to sell it due to the amount needed to keep it running. Am thinking of getting another tractor if i can't get it with the tree surgeons. It will help to do some odd jobs. And as for me doing it too i tried that and could not get anything as to many others doing it. I will try other odd jobs to make some money but we will see what happens first with the phone calls.

I used to cut grass and was making good money before i started my last job now where i look i see someone cutting grass some local and some from outside the village.

That would be the way to do it and you get just the firms you want without all the pages of adverts them write list down for one to call. Thanks jon hi line would have been top of the list any way as they are the closes to me. My name is mike.

I have thought about it but need to find phone book and make a list of firms to call. My luck might change but it might not you can only but try.
