  1. Ah sorry dude Im after the one with the pulley invuilt unless that's what you got for sale? Tom
  2. I've had 37 meter ropes for the last 6 -7 years and Ive done some "big as they get" trees and never had any problems running out of rope in this country that is plenty Id like to see someone ddrt with a 45 meter rope coz I can garantee those extra 7 meters really hurt on big reductions take downs and smaller stuff, what you have to remember is you gota pull all that rope over branches out the way of a groundie etc multiple times a day! At worst on big stuff you'll have to change over once on the way down but seriously buddy if your using all that rope everyday then evaluate your pay and consider a rope wrench I don't have a wrench but if your climbing big stuff all day then it's gota be an investment for you to go srt Find your style what suits you and the trees you get but 37m mate!
  3. It was a sessile oak hiab operator told us what it weighed but can remember exact numbers but was 8 mm Samson ice if that helps, bloody strong stuff love to break 1 of my splices properly on a jig and see how it fairs!
  4. Ahh I've created some confusion here not an eye to eye but an end for end For end essentially creating an endless loop, this could be used as a tidy prussik or splice a pinto into it, this eliminates trying a locking Brummell in the second eye which is impossible I think! And leaves a dead strong termination. I modified samsons instructions and before I buried I passed each end through the braid twice then buried, it jus looked stronger. We then picked up a 3.25 ish tonne oak log with the telehandler without a lock stitch and it didn't budge at all so I was happy with that, I cut it condemned it and gona make another when needed! Hope this may help its this easiest way I can think of attaining this answer everyone's been stressing with!
  5. This is looking good people, there is a tea hut near to the site where we will park and up to everyone if they wanna bring food but a stove with tea and coffee will be essential so everyone bring a cup, bit o suger tea etc as its not far to the hut but will be hard work bringing T's through the forest. I wanna set a date just worried about the weather and it being real nasty on the day i set and everyone's sorted their day release out! Lol Ps the tea hut makes nice rolls Looking forward to this!!
  6. Ice tail makes a good snag free end for end splice onto pinto with spacer and two none locking Brummell sufficient bury and lock stitch, nice easy very strong cord!
  7. How many people are likely to turn up i dont know as ive never organised one of these before... there's no restrictions on the amount of climbers loool they are pretty big and plenty of them hehe Tom
  8. As soon as the weather changes properly dry cold and still a date will be set, everyone welcome I have a few kits if kit is an issue the more the merrier, Tom Hayden [email protected]
  9. Hi everyone I fully agree with everyone as I have worked for ages with no tickets 6 years and only got em this year I also found out loads I didn't know and same again a subject I was confident and learnt more then I thought I would! So the tickets are good especially in a day and age where qualifications are abundent and from a point of more learning, it's the flippin price there ain't many firms willing to pay for them so makes it hard but worth it in my experience just try get them all. Plus makes you worth more!!!!
  10. Nice 1 albere I didn't know that, sort of like a fail safe then if you like! my first cam lasted me a year now I'm doing em every 2 or three months loool I like jumping on it hehe! Plus the Shitty weather doesn't help. P.s. I always use a pulleysaver too!
  11. Sorry dropped this in the wrong sub threads I'll re-post don't know how to delete
  12. I've had mine for 2 years and climb everyday on it but how many cams should you go through before you should retire the jack any ideas?
  13. Anyone coming to the next rec climb should bring beers and a BBQ along with them it may become compulsory! Lool
  14. Yer I will do just going out in a min so ill start 1 later. tom
  15. Ok well would it be a) drop in job or b) contact the forest? A could go swimmingly well no problems just some interest from local dog walkers walkers etc or we could have the forest on our back telling us to up sticks and leave! B contact the forest ask and get rejected or allowed! This is dicey but the legitimate way which I would rather especially if there is more then 5 to 10 ropes and climbers turning up in force to climb old growths. I climb in this forest regularly and have been stopped once even explaining to the up his arse ranger that my final T in P has been a cambium saver spike less climbing etc.. ......buuuuut I am aware of no standing bylaws impairing people from climbing trees either free or roped up but obviously there is on wilful destruction or damage to the forest or habitats contained within. But we all know this as we are respectful arborists so we would need to think of the best way to broach this to the forest or just turn up and pretend we know nothing but show all the courteous jestures we can a couple of black bags for bins no rubbish cambium savers etc I'm not teaching anyone to suck eggs it's just a couple times I've met sum arsey rangers! Loool
  16. Next rec climb that comes up can you guys let me know I missed it last weekend but I would be more then interested in coming along. I'm in NE London so am only local I've also found a couple of xlarge beeches in Epping forest too if people wanted to move around. There should be more of these rec climbs Cheers and thanks in advance Tom 07511209840 [email protected]
  17. I think with locking Brummell and tails buried at least ten times the diameter so 80 mm should be more then fine make sure you always lock stitch it! I've made an adjustable 1 for a rope wrench when I get one for the hand ascender that toggles tight onto the foot similar to a whoopsie sling with straight buries and it seems fine. So if it's your prime attachment then locking Brummell bury and lock stitch! Will be Kool like that mate.
