As far as I know mate I was still setting my alarm and off up there I'm not sure who and how many numbers, albere seemed interested and a few others so as long as people turn up in the morning then we will see what the weather holds, as mentioned before I wouldn't want anyone to stress coming too far if the weather is appalling but yet still ill be there and see what happens. 7. More the merrier that's fine! We are looking at the 27th and meeting for 8 am at the Kings Oak in High Beach Epping Forest In the car park I have a Ford Ka Van unfortunately. 10. I really would reconsider using that kinda stuff in rope I used to race and be a cycle mechanic and have seen loads of these cables 'break down' over tight bends, for example when someone ties their bike up in the same way the cable starts to tear on the tension side... How can I explain ... Like a burger cheese when folded, then the metal starts moving and fraying. I would say stick with some other way of holding eye open in my advice. After all can you see it breakdown when it's in the rope? Wouldn't shrink wrap be sufficient in the splice .
  11. 28th is what we are aiming for then? Where in Chingford can you remember Sam? Also is 8am too early to meet?

  15. How does 27/28th December sound to everyone? It's no stress if anyone can't attend I was thinking to set a date in jan/ feb as well so that there's a date more in advance, so that people who need to make some arrangements can do so in good time! Let me know
  16. Right I'm guessing that everyone's gona get some toys for Xmas so how about either inbetween Xmas and Nu year or after as we're all gona be itching those who can come then post a couple dates and we'll meet in a middle point and those who can't we can do another date I just wana get these meets started and rolling Let's climb I just need a wrench and hand ascender now and life's will be complete hehe 07511209840 [email protected]
  17. Im going to quote all of the above on experience species etc but what also needs to be observed is a piece if paper called a risk assessment, I know we all hate them but if you actually fill one in and present it to a customer and tell them it's too unsafe it eliminates the macho I'll do it and I have done this countless times before, after all it's hard to turn around and say I'm not climbing it or whatever... But.... We live in a day and age where we go home at the end of the day it's also the same day and age of health and safety so think about that and evaluate the tree properly 'frenchy' in particular as it will make the decisions a lot easier. If it has to be climbed at least you will have done a very thorough check before you have even put your belt on mate and have that little bit of confidence building behind you! We all get up trees by rights ones that we should not sometimes and usually we are lucky, just give yourself every possible chance of being actually able to tell that story to your mates in the pub and look properly before you ask what may be deemed as a silly question! Stay safe!
  18. In response to flipline; the Yale maxi flip is a nice feels more like rope as opposed to wire, it has Flemish eyes which are better and confidence building for me anyway! Get a small conneting ring an ISC 3 way snap hook quick easy and simple to operate yet robust and a vt stlye knot setup with beeline 9 mm seems to work really nice together, oh and I got a brand new new England flip at work and don't like the eyes as much as the Yale if that helps. Given the choice at work I woulda had the Yale.
  19. Na it's not on a roundabout on a side road.
  20. Yale maxi flip with Isc 3 way snap pinto stein beeline eye 2 eye and rock exotica crab sweet as works really nice for me! And more like rope then wire others are really stiff length is your choice I have 3 m and it's fine any bigger just put 2 together.
  21. The job ain't in Royston? Loool if it's was that same tree I was gona say just make sure you got a climber on ground or up it with ya coz it was a big ol girl! What do you do freelance?
