  1. Hi all Well as i'm waiting for the drum etc i think i'll do a spot of maintenance on it (gloria) lol Can anyone recommend an engine oil and the amount it takes? also whats the preferred grease people use for the greasing points.. also need a decent grease gun? I'm going to get some vinyl decals printed out so i can have my logo and number on it, will take pics cheers
  2. thanks guys, absolute nightmare taking it all apart, took me hours. talking with mac from greenmech last thing this afternoon and i have packaged up all the bits excluding my current bust drum and i'm sending it to greenmech and mac will assemble it for me with new drum then return it this way it will all be done properly! he really is such a nice guy!
  3. where abouts in scotland are you mate?
  4. so i have a new cassette on the way now and have to get new bearings and blade screws etc. any hints and tips for getting old bearings off?
  5. it's one heavy piece of kit isn't it!
  6. Hi all well took apart the drum and here is the results, a big dirty nasty crack on the weld! sent pics to mac @ greenmech and he will show the boss. i await a reply
  7. will do, thanks for all your help, and everyone else's too
  8. ok so out of warranty! i'm sure it will be fantastic when it's eventually working mate had it booked out for a few hours on friday and saturday as well
  9. hi mate, was it still under warranty?
  10. thanks so roughly what gap did you end up with? what get's me is the massive difference between the 2 blades.... will take blades of tomorrow and check the sizes and post pics. the closest of my blades seem to be about 1mm but it still scuffs a little on cassette.
  11. when did yours bugger up? how long ago?
  12. will try again tomorrow, left him a message today to call me back but he must have been busy. cheers
  13. hi steve it was purchased november 2010 yes both blades are new. how much and what was the procedure to fix that weld?
  14. thanks Charles, that's my first port of call tomorrow, blade match check. i was so exited today getting my first chipper and now this lol.
  15. thanks for the picture arbtech, what's the fix for that? send to greentech or have someone weld it? any idea on prices? rob i'm not so sure they are hitting the anvil as there's no scuffs on it at all, however i think it maybe scuffing the drum case. i have to take the drum somewhere tomorrow to get the bolts out as i don't have a torq that size, any idea what size it is? maybe the blades are different lengths / thickness and that's why one is so close..?
  16. hello all just bought a cs100 from a tree surgeon in northern Ireland, machine was just in for a service, 2 new blades, air filter etc. had it shipped over and received it today, as soon as i fired it up it made a metal hitting metal ticking noise and the more the revs increased the louder and faster the noise got.. VERY loud. Turned it off straight away to have a look for any thing obvious and this is what i found.. 1 blade about 5mm from the anvil and looks fine and the other blade about 1mm from the anvil and has scuffs on the top of it. If both blades are sitting snugly where they should be, but up. how can there so a massive difference in gap between the 2?

  19. hello all looking for a new pair of boot's and i'm liking the look of the Husqvarna Technical 24 boots. i'm normally a size 10 or even 11 for normal shoes etc but my husqvarna wellies are a uk size 9! is it the same case for the Husqvarna Technical 24 boots? or are they fairly standard sizing? ps, no shops near me have them so i can't even try them out. cheers
  20. actually meant to say it's a 18hp not 17hp.. decent price for age, in good condition and just serviced with new blades?
  21. good replies guys thanks. also got this reply on the titan on another forum " i just mention i did purchase one of the chinese machines and yes they do work okay but they have many flaws in them e.g when they clog which they do all the time if the barrel jams it burns the drive belt " very valid point about the belts and clogging up. i'm now in talks for a second hand cs100 17hp briggs and stratton key start, the guy wants close to 3 grand for it, it's just been serviced and getting new blades as we speak, do you think that's an ok price? it's 3 years old and hardly used as he has a bigger one.
  22. been looking at these as i'm after a chipper for my garden maintenance business, would be to chip hedging, small trees etc. anything larger than 4" i log and burn. seems to be a replica of a GTM Professional chipper but £1000+ less.
  23. Thanks Alec, great post
  24. Hi Yes a jigsaw i'm sure would do it but surely not the most accurate to get all the cuts the same? and maybe more time consuming? I think some kind of a jig would be best to get them all accurate across many amounts. This is all pretty new to me and i'm just starting to buy wood tools over the next while. I also plan on buying a router, could that do the same as a band saw for the curves? any help or ideas on a jig for either would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks James
  25. Hello all Will soon be putting a new fence up, I would like to round the top of the fence slats just to make it a bit different from the normal square or spiked top fences in my area. What would you all suggest would be the best way to round the tops of 200 plus fence slats? I don't actually have a band saw yet but I'm looking to get one around the £400 mark in a couple of weeks. Thanks
