They undertake a wide range of work for local authorities (they hold several long term contracts for councils), commercial, (including some utility contracts) and domestic. They are currently looking to employ a PTI qualified surveyor to assist with their contract with Birmingham City Council. The work would involve programmed VTA inspections of local authority trees. The work will be primarily within the West Midlands area and the pay will be on a per tree basis on a full or part time basis so would suit a self employed worker. Employing several Tree Officers and Inspectors our client not only manages their own authority trees, but also those of several neighbouring councils. They also have a direct work force of arborists who maintain the council's trees. They currently have funding for an additional Inspector . Candidates will need to be qualified to a minimum of level 3 in arboriculture and ideally have previous technical experience. LANTRA professional tree inspection would be an advantage. However, they will also consider candidates who have no technical experience but hold the relevant qualifications.   16. An opportunity for an arboricultural or landscape officer has arisen to cover a fixed term contract to March 2018 for a Council in Kent. This role is fundamental to supporting both the Landscape Management and Arboriculture elements of the Council's team along with working closely with highways operations . This is primarily an office based role but there is also a requirement to undertake some work in the field. This position would suit a candidate who is looking to gain technical experience in the public sector; candidates may be studying for a level 3 qualification or already have one within Arboriculture or Horticulture.You may be an arborist who wants to give up climbing but still work within the industry in a non hands on role while considering under taking further training or qualifications, or a candidate with some knowledge and experience of working in landscaping. The main part of the role will require you to review new enquires and where possible resolve these at first point of contact which will involve follow up calls with members of the public. There is also a requirement for general administrative duties which will include managing email accounts, preparing meeting minutes, works ordering, managing incoming enquiries for first point resolution and providing procurement support for the team. As you may be required to undertake site visits from time to time you will need to hold a valid driving licence. Access to a vehicle will be provided. Site visits will involve contract monitoring of urban grass cutting contracts and tree works. There may also be a requirement for customer enquiries to be followed up with site inspections. Knowledge of iProcurement, Oracle, WAMS/ Confirm would be desirable but it is not essential as training can be provided. An interest in the soft landscape would also be beneficial. The successful candidate will be able to provide support to teams within the Ashford depot. The hours of work are 9am -5pm/ 7.5 hours per day to fall in line with the normal working hours of the rest of highways.
