  1. I honestly don't think there is a bad rep to ignore on Oregon chains bud . Some of the peeps will say shit for shits sake . I am an old git and have been at it longer than some and in all that time I have never had a duff Oregon chain . Or a Stihl one come to that but I have used probably , at a guess 80% more Oregon than Stihl chains .

Exactly the same here Stubby. I don't get it from preference (though i have no problem with it whatsoever) just whatever my local stockist has and that is usually Oregon.

  2. Or just take the Cornish approach and give it all a DGI!

There are many hereabouts that still haven’t bothered with basics like vehicle RFL, MoT test & insurance.

This creature turned up on site last week to remove timber. Nothing to do with me - my work was done! Private arrangement between landowner and local ‘log merchant.’

Every stick fell off 4 times before he got them all onboard and then he drove off through Callington on the public highway!

I felt sorry for the dog!

    Nice tyres!!
  3. I suppose my gripe was just aimed at a more competitive price angle. But of course I'll just shut up and pay !
I agree with you. All the other manufacturers can sell theirs cheaper for profit. Like others have said, if they can sell at that price, why not, Smells a bit of greed to me. It is one of the reasons i won't purchase a treemotion, they won't be bothered of course.

I still climb in a willans and its got nothing to do with cost, i genuinely find it the most comfortable harness i have worn, the tree motion does come a close 2nd. I did put the 3 strand away some time ago mind[emoji3][emoji3]

  4. I just used to use any old leather rigger gloves. They're only going to get nakerd anyway. I tend not to bother with gloves these days though. Let the rigging device do the work, it's why it's there.
I know what your saying, but i always rig with gloves just in case. Friction burns f'in hurt
  5. I was once told if you walk away from the tree bending forward looking between your legs back at the tree that when you’re at a distance that you can see the top of the tree, that distance will be height of tree! I guess there are many variables there but it would make me a happy man if there was any truth in it[emoji846]
    Sounds like a wind up[emoji23][emoji23]
  6. Even organised last weeks job whilst on the move.(Dismantle crown to where the tree could be safely felled into the yard).Targets-9 BT wires,a couple of roofs, chimney pot, walls etc...No chipping as the owner would organise someone to stack the branches.I agreed to do it from a Platform and use only battery power.A good chance to showcase the Amazing 161T.
Who put those phone lines there? What a pain.

  7. That sums it up nicely, she even tried to justify the cost because a wagon and two operatives were involved in this major environmental clean up!

I asked her if she would be happy to pay £800 of her own money to have that amount of rubbish taken away... she never answered.
    Good question[emoji106]
  8. I’d rather take it off green than cut and wait for it to die turn to hard ,brittle dusty nightmare....start at the top and roil it down and it falls off under its own weight and is supple enough to manipulate around branches than when it’s rock hard and dead .
I find this can and cannot be the case. Sometimes ivy will pull off fine and orher times it can grip on very very strongly, especially around branches and unions.

Be careful when using tools such as screw driver or crow bar, that you do not damae the bark.

Good luck, it can be very infuriating

  9. Do you guys still have those timber wagons where the whole rear end is like a bogie only connected to the tractor unit via the timber it’s hauling? i used to spend 6 months a year up in Timmins doing the cold weather testing, ontario... great place great people [emoji106]
I went to Oregon in mid 90's and they had these wagons you speak of. Once empty, the trailer/bogie is loaded on the tractor unit and driven like that. Very cool.
