  1. I had a chance to try Ians idea of clipping into a strop whilst coming down through a fork to setup to comeback up through it with much success, thanks Ian a great idea. Keeps you far enough away from fork to get a leg up in it to assist in getting back up and through it. I'm very much enjoying this srt business may have a spiderjack up for sale soon
  2. I'm climbing on imori with amourprus on a wrench at the moment, very smooth
  3. The strop away from the fork is a great idea, yeah i'm enjoying it, it feels very natural working one rope and like (i think) Cary says "tree chess" thats very true. I love that i'm back to a hitch i just in the last 3 months bought a SJ for Ddrt but i'm just so sick of fighting friction. With any luck i can transition into full time srt without losing to much productivity wise before i bought the RW i was doing pretty much all my ascending srt then swapping over to Ddrt so it shouldn't be too bad it'll take a while to come to terms with the 1:1 weight management but i spose that is all part and parcel i remember reading somewhere that using the RW that you've gotta climb the tree more instead of the rope.
  4. Hi all, first congrats on a great rope wrench thread, after reading it you guys have convinced me to buy a wrench. Shame on you! ;P anyway i've had a bit of a swing on it and i enjoy being able to not only ascend srt but work as well. But i have some questions, i'm 110kg and i wonder if there are many more of the fuller figured climbers have been using it? And just out of interest what rope, prussik cord and hitch are people using, i'm on imori with 8mm armourprus using a valotain (spellings off lol) also i'm liking the idea of multipile redirects but i a having enormous problems trying to come back up through a crotch. The only way i've been able to do it is with a 3:1 moving at about 3inch increments at a time. How are you guys doing it? Or are dropping down through forks more of a one way thing? I've got many more questions but we'll see how i go with these ones first. Thanks all Nick
  5. Wesspur or treestuff but i'm sure many others, http://www.treestuff.com/store/catalog.asp?category_id=235&item=1505 These are what i run
  6. Lowering 1800kg? Thats a 3600kg rigging point in the tree
  7. Back to cheap blocks, i find the CMI blocks very competitive price wise and top notch quality
  8. Hi all first post i thought this would be a good one for it lol, i carry my 5 metre pole belt, ART positioner, spiderjack, steel carabiner, friction saver and ball, knife, hand ascender, 2 different size light rigging loops and non locking snap, small cmi pulley, fig 8 and a little bag with a life support sling and little bits and pieces, saw strop and ms192, after reading the other posts i think i may be going a bit over kill but i use it all often and as a contract climber i never know what kind of groundy i'll be working with next.
