  1. Thanks I think I remember it tells you it must be stored correctly but like many others docent tell you how, but no doubt will mention away from contaminants, UV etc.
  2. To be honest if it was me I would MOT it assuming a station can and would test it? And have some sort of traceable service record. If you ever have an accident or get a VOSA check you are doing above and beyond what you legally need to so it would be harder for them to take any action against you
  3. Very sad, could some one follow up so we can see what went wrong so we can avoid it in future? No matter what job we do we always need to be on the ball and just take a moment to think if this went wrong what could I do.
  4. Thanks I will pass it on, he has to come up with several variations even the bad ones and then show his final selection and say why, its not all about coming up with the best product its more showing how he dismissed some ideas and kept others. One idea at the moment is similar to the camera back pack with compartments etc, one is a big tote tray
  5. Hello My 17 Year old son is a keen climber, he has to design and prototype a new product for his A level DT project. He is thinking of climbing equipment bag / case that could be used by climbers tree surgeons etc, the idea being its all in one place easier to transport etc. So how do you store your Ropes carabiners etc? Is there a bit of legislation he could mention as I am sure something will say Equipment must be stored correctly?
  6. Thats excellent, I learnt many years ago whan I was an apprentice, its very good to see so I will do a few eyes later this week so I dont forget
  7. Thanks for the PMs I will pass them on
  8. Hello A good friend of mine has a large tree that needs some pruning, he is near the Liverpool Airport, any one local?
  9. Thats spot on. I look at some engineers we meet and to be honest most havent got a clue until they have 5 years of the right experiance under there belt. You will no dount see people who just dont know things you think they should. I have seen people running training courses who are not very experianced in the subject they are teaching, so you alos have to look at the quality of training, its difficult for people like Ed but the way to progress is to work for some one else.
  10. THanks
  11. Thanks should be £1000. How do I ammend it?
  12. Could you not just farm any Mog type work out for a small cut? They could go in as you if need be? I might be talking rubbish, but If I had a Mog I would be sorry to see it go, but its just another operating cost
  13. Quote its a fact that our industry is undervalued, Quote I agree many industrys are and people wonder why we have a decline in skilled people
  14. Thats fine we all have our own opinions Any profit is a good one I agree, but some times you need a certain profit to make it all worth while, many people could earn more shelf stacking in Asda etc but choose another role as its what they prefer to do. The wifes tool sales is slow and a small profit, but on the other hand what else could we do to bring a few quid extra in? We coulnt live off it but we save it and spend it on the kids holidays etc I help out with a lot of the work on my days off but only because I cant get any other part time work around school hours.
  15. Ad placed please form an orderly queue LOL
  16. I will put in Arb trader now, just see how it goes, its in being checked over and serviced at the moment so no pics till the week end Thanks
  17. Thanks Looked at Pitch care but thought it was expensive at £36? Do many people read it? It sounds most appropiate
  18. Thanks Its only one you walk behind 20" cut, about £3000 new its a 2002 so would it be worth £1000?,
  19. No I am just an innocent bystander as its not my trade, I am an engineer. If I was pricing the job, I would always leave a written no quibble quote , Risk assesment and method statement and copy of insurance cert then they can see you are a professional, with insurance should it go wrong. My wife runs a very small Tool sales business aimed at the motor trade, its only to try and make a few quid to pay for holidays. She is quite often under cut by people selling something for £20 and only making £1 this just isnt sustainable and some of these idiots ruin the business then go bust, what keeps many of our customers is if they have a problem we sort it out straight away even if we loos on it as we keep the customer. Times are very tight but its not worth doing jobs for free
  20. To cut a long story short. I need to sell a top of the range Ransomes professional mower. Whats the best way to do it and value it?
  21. Can I put slate chippings or stones over the soil just to keep the weeds out?
  22. I went to buy some trailer wheels at the weekend and the guy next door had about 30 Bonsis in the garden, one being a Conker, it was fantastic, but I would just kill it LOL
  23. Thats a good point Daughter tell her dont touch she never will, lad well as soon as your backs turned he will touch it, one thing about kids they are all different. I got him a small axe when he was 12, cuts wood in the garden supervised
  24. THanks, happy with the size now just dont want them to die
  25. People often dont realise its cheaper to train the staff and do the job properly and safely than face the courts if it goes wrong as if it dose you can prove you did everything in your power to avoid it. THe 1974 H&S at work act has dramaitcally reduced accidents but people still die and are injured at work, this is why the HSE and others are pushing behavioural safety as its now peoples behaviour that is causing some of these accidents. I still have a chat to people who dont wear PPE on our site, many dont see any danger as they dont know the site well. Winchmans safety lesson for the day If you dont wear eye protection read this Health and safety motivational speaker, safety training films | Ken Woodward
