  1. thanks eveyone for your help/advice, we have now had a man from fc out and he has done an estimate, so thanks all.
  2. I agree with Alycidon, I have a Hakki Pilke 2xs carry and I average around 1 cube an hour, thats with moving the cube bags with the loader and loading the log table, I only do it on a sunday and I do around 5 cube and watch the f1 when its on. If I am honest I am not that impressed with the build Quality but it does the job fine, I will go for a Tajfun next time.
  3. Hello all, I have a wood of 25 acres and I am looking to find out how many cubic meters of soft wood we have approximately, I have counted trees in a .05 of an acre diameter and there is an average of 14 trees in this area and at chest height they average about 5ft in diameter and approx 90 ft high. Can you help me with calculating tonnage/ cubic meters I have. many thanks Doug.
  4. We only ask as a our accountant says there is a legal limit at which a load can be charged at a domestic rate before you have to charge at the commercial rate but we are thinking that as long as a customer is only using it for himself then surely it shouldn't matter whether he has 2 tonne or 26 tonne the vat rate should still only be 5%. We are still waiting for the accountant to get back to us so we thought all you wise people could inform us
  5. Can anybody tell us what is the largest load of firewood you can deliver at 5% domestic vat rate.
  6. Hi Dave, Sorry but that is to far for me, delivery would kill it. I have around 5000 tonnes of soft wood.
  7. more or less the same here, we process individual species into vented cube bags and we mix when we go to deliver it, I just didnt really want to spend the money on new bags, with carriage they are £6.50 each.
  8. I have a large amount of split logs all under 20% moisture in cubic meter bags, I have now run out of bags so I am wondering whether to empty them into a light and well ventilated shed to save the purchase of more bags, am I likely to have any mould issues, and will they dry further.
  9. Hi, I am looking for about 50 tonnes Ash cord wood to suit processor , ideally 4" to 10" delivered, my post code is LD2. Many thanks.
  10. Are you looking for a bulk load of split logs, do they have to be seasoned , does it have to be softwood hardwood mix, or can it be all hardwood, I maybe able to deliver you a load.
  11. I live up in the hills in mid Wales, there aint nothing but rock under the grass around here lol:biggrin:
  12. they are Boat trailer rollers I got off ebay, I think £4 each, they are a bit rubbery, rather than a hard plastic, I will see if i can find the company name for you.
  13. Have just made this, what do you think, is it too big
  14. I got them from Bag Supplies and I think £5.50 plus Vat(50 at a time) , I need some more now.
  15. like to see more of that splitter working.
  16. As my missus would tell me to say "WE" put our logs straight from processor into vented bag's, works a treat, split some Birch in April at 40% moisture and it is now at 15-20% and it is stored in an open fronted shed.
  17. Wow that does sound cheap, do they pay for there wood, if so they won't be doing it for long me thinks.
  18. Are we all in the same sort of cost per cube split logs, I have nearly cut and split my 1st artic load of Birch(ok after prompting from my missus... WE) with chainsaw and axe, loaks like we are going to get around 45 bags, so thats about £27 a bag, fuel for saw and wear and tare about £3 a bag, so a total of £30 a bag, WE are going to sell these at around £80 a cube delivered, after taking out time and fuel for delivery will WE get rich.
  19. Hi I maybe able to help, I live in Painscastle and I have some Birch, Oak, Ash, Chestnut, Beach, thats if you are not fixed up. Would that need to delivered to Ffynongynedd. 07811145269 Regards, Doug.
