  1. Schwabisch hitch is awesome!! 1. Make four wraps around main static rope with a hand tied or sewn prusik or spliced eye split tail friction cord. 2. After fourth wrap bring wrapping tail down and make an additional wrap at bottom of other wraps in opposite direction while tying a half hitch around other rope. This results in both tails exiting the knot together. 3. Join eyes in front add pully and clip together with a carabiner. Hope that makes sense! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  2. Yeah that's it:) perhaps a tad long maybe would work a little better with 3 wraps and two/3 turns Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  3. To be honest I think you are pretty rude. I purchased the throw pod from Marcus the moment I could with my hard graphed pennies and don't regret a thing. I use it practically every day and can guarantee I certainly get a higher more accurate throw. I couldn't use it to close to glass green houses or expensive cars but a majority of my work is in the twigs and as another piece if bling bling in my kit bag it certainly has already been used enough to cover the cost. 19. That time of the year is coming where we all meet up around the country to catch up, drink beer, buy shiny gear, look at even more shiny gear we can justify buying and take part in some friendly competition. Well this year there is more competition set up by 3ATC to watch out for! If you haven't competed in one of these competitions before and fancy giving it ago or have competed in one in the past and fancy another go...... check out the 3ATC website to view all the details of venues, rules and book yourself in. Also their are some great photos from a couple of events from last year including the APF and a demo video of the competition. A photo gallery of the 3ATC Arborist Tree Challenge Any ideas you have on anything to do with the subject...... comment!!
  20. The 3ATC CCC is purely for students to enter. It's run as a more learning experience than the open days. The idea is to allow students the chance to turn up and watch some workshop demos for some tips, tricks and skills that they may find useful in everyday life and then to compete in a competition against other students. This is set up so the competition is fair as everybody would have had within two/three years climbing experience ( in theory) those with more would have to enter the premier level. I'm not sure whether you can turn up to have a watch to see what it's all about, you would have to contact the organisers at http://www.3ATC.com to find out. However the open competition held at "The AA" arb show, Cirencester is just over an hour from you..... This is set up for anybody to take part. Check out the thread talking about the open competitions by nick Pott or again check out the 3ATC website for all details and booking. Hope this has helped Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  21. Stein are giving away a £60 free goodie bag for all those entering in the southern college event!!! Day off college to compete in a friendly atmosphere where there are great prizes up for grabs also workshops available to learn some techniques that may serve you well or life...... How can you resist!!! Book now as limited spaces available! Check out http://www.3ATC.com for further information! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  22. Well it's all about coming along and giving it ago. There are three different levels of entry. You could enter as a novice climber. It has a secret optimum time set by one of the judges which acts as a set time that the judges feel is a speed for a novice climber to move around the tree completing the tasks safely! You also start from the top of the tree enjoying a MEWP journey to the top, and advice and support given to you from the ground. I'd say if you fancy the idea of it .... Look it up on the website http://www.3atc.com and book it up. There is a restricted amount of spaces. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
