  5. i spoke to a dealer last week who is getting me a new bar and chain for my sachs dolmar 133 and he put a 36" bar and chain on a standard of the shelf makita dcs7901 cutting a very large turkey oak butt and he was amazed how well the makita handled this bar so thumbs up:thumbup1: and he sells husky and stihl as well
  6. cant anybody start up a new political party for all the people that are out in all weathers earning a crust how about "THE DECIDOUS EVERGREEN PARTY"

  8. thanks for the identification what was catching me out was all the long hanging small branches some where up to 4ft long and hanging straight down
  9. yes i totally agree with you the older macs are best i got a 10-10 and a pro-mac 850 and it runs and cuts like hell its lovely to take out this loud beast out when your in an enclosed area and let rip and the sound bounces off everywhere i couldnt bring myself too go and buy a chinese saw so this one fitted the bill it is a perfect match too fit on the sawhorse when iam too lazy to lift the wood onto the sawbench and if the 560 starts playing silly beggers it will have to help out lol but time will tell how it lasts
  10. i love these videos good for a laugh:thumbup: there is another video on youtube quadtrac vs tank sorry i dont know how to do the link
  11. yes i should weigh it and find out its the same with john deere vs new holland tractors pistols at dawn:lol: and scania drivers vs volvo drivers bunfight on route 66:lol:
  12. ok will do that tomorrow if the sun is shining and a nice stand of douglas happy happy
  13. but back in its day some of the 254's had there problems most were good but there was one or two fellow cutters many moons ago you could here there langauge more than the exhaust note lol an old saying when buying something new "dont be the first" "or the last"
  14. i think we should try out these different models and iam sure that everybodies veiws and problems with different brands are well noted and when it comes to a new purchase every dealer will have some awkward questions to answer lol
  15. i think it could be a european larch but it has all weeping branches so not sure now:confused1:
  16. hope you get it sorted soon my 560 has been good, but back when it was cold weather the starting wasnt brilliant it would be a shame if this model became a second choice saw for people using them everyday which dealer in devon do you use
  17. yes so do i  it could go flying through the air later on who knows :001_rolleyes: but it has got a 2yr warranty there was nothing said about a commercial warranty perhaps they thought nobody would be stupid enough to take it into the woods and use it in their day job lol perhaps i should have started this thread on the jokes thread:lol:
  18. hello just had another day using the "yellow peril" cant seem to leave it alone most of the parts are identical to the 560 every cover and all the side casings are stamped husqvarna they are both assembled in nsw australia av mounts, handle springs, throttle linkage , air filter , handle mounts , intake manifold , same petrol and oil tank housing the 325 bar are identical just different colours it starts well hot or cold cuts very well and is powerful also it sounds nice it has that huskyexhaust note and it looks like a husqvarna 445e my camera ran out of battery so i could only take two photos but i will drive everybody mad over the weekend with some more photos :thumbdown:
  19. i made the mistake and bought the large internal diameter sprocket rim by mistake so that one can go on one of my dolmars:thumbup: i was a bit suprised how small the spark plug is on the 560:001_smile:
  20. no its perfect just change the sprocket rim and away you go it is a good move you will like it even more:thumbup:
  21. just purchased a new husky saw "a yellow and black one" i put a thread up here about a month ago about this one "the yellow peril" i have been toying with this idea for a few weeks now so i done it i bought a mcculloch cs 450 elite i have put three tanks of petrol through it so far it runs good and it sounds nice very impressed so far  i will take some close up photos very soon so everyone can see it up close and make your own mind up:thumbup:
  22. its a seven tooth rim but it is a bigger in diameter a seven tooth .325 rim so it has that bit of a faster drive from the start and there is plenty of room for this sprocket so at the moment all is fine its behaving like a husky 61 on steroids:thumbup:
  23. i went down too abbey garden sales last week where i bought my 560 and got a 3/8 sprocket rim and a 18" pro lite bar and 3/8 chain over the weekend i changed it over and i couldnt beleive the difference honestly  i just been felling some dead beech hedge trees around the parimeter fence of a new solar farm i felt in hardwood the 325 wasnt giving the output i expected:thumbdown: but as soon as i changed them over wow it was like bacon and eggs they were made for each other:thumbup::thumbup:
  24. nice one what saw were you running back then did you do much of the windblown on haldon hill at the same time we went down to otterton hill and ladram bay cutting corsican pine and jap larch one or two lengths of timber and loads of pulp everything winched up the hill i had a dolmar 115i and a jonsereds 49 sp ''if the sun had shone'' and a stand of douglas had come along i would have been happy happy
  25. i was wondering what the felling rates were nowadays as i finished peicework back in 1998 went to work on a private estate but somedays i miss it like hell the only reason i finished was money and a very wet year and i was feeling down and couldnt shake myself out of it we only had lots of 1st and 2nd thinnings and a little 3rd thinning and any clearfell was like a roof of a house we had to stack everything 8 foot posts 12 foot rails all the pulp' there were 10 rows of trees between each rack so we would throw the wood 5 rows each way. but looking down each finished rack was a pleasure to see all the stacked wood ready for the tractor and trailer we got paid as follows 1st thinnings fencing £12.50 mtr pulp £7.50 mtr 2nd thinnings fencing £12.00 mtr pulp £6.50 mtr 3rd thinnings fencing £ 10.50 mtr pulp £6.00 mtr clearfell timber £5.50 mtr if you burnt your brash clearfell timber £4.50 mtr if the tractor burnt your brash clearfell pulp £4.50 mtr but looking back if the sun had shone:biggrin: and a nice stand of douglas had come along:thumbup: it would have been happy happy happy there is nothing like sitting in a stand of douglas having a cuppa watching and listening to life if the work was close enough i would take my two wheel drive international tractor with a linkbox to work and bring home firewood in lengths every night which was a good bonus if not the car and walk in low stumps tidy brash good stacks everybody happy
