  1. Hello dude, have a looksy on YouTube at vids about neuroplasticity and meditation. Think of the brain as a muscle, if you wanted bigger biceps, you'd lift weights and you'd defo get them, if you want to raise your baseline happiness, meditate and that will happen [emoji2]

Also have a gander at the Wim Hof breathing method, it's pretty darn amazing [emoji106]

Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

I watched a short documentary on Win Hof just the other night . Didn't know about his breathing techniques but came across it through cold therapy techniques and in my instance cold showering . I did this all last summer and felt great , no muscle soreness , quick recovery times , good for the brain etc

Combine this with good diet and breathing techniques I reckon this would go a long way into feeling good again ...

  2. Why so?

RADS is very slow and still takes a bit of effort despite the mechanical advantage . You lose all benefit of 1:1 srt in a rads ascent . The grigri is a super piece of kit don't get me wrong but only as a progress capture device and direct unobstructed descent tool .It's not designed for tree work , just my take on it ..

  3. I don't think the trees are necessarily under stress . During a typical crown care job we will typically as you say remove the heavy ball ( very heavy even ) and deadwood . It's very abundant in Austria especially heavy on the black hybrid pops and Acer . The trees are otherwise healthy . But I think a heavy infestation on an already stressed tree could see it's demise . The large bulbous callous which appears at the base of the mistletoe I'm not sure if this is the branch compartmentalizing it or whether it's a sugar source , I would be interested to know to .

Easy to see why it's been a symbol of vitality , virility for a long long time ..

  4. I think people should understand the wildlife and countryside act and know the ins and outs of the animals classed as vermin on the list and the conditions that must be abided by before dispatching said vermin. I for one am a country sports man with country sports in my blood. And whilst I may have my own opinion on the main contents of this thread. I am shocked that certain terminology has been used within the thread to insult others and the cost of offending others with certain health issues. YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE! This forum can be accessed by anybody, and indeed can in certain curmcumstances direct people through to threads from a google search. It is completely unacceptable in this day and age to use terms such as 'retard'!!!!!!! Stick to professionalism for the industry sake. If you have strong feelings about a certain issue and feel the need to make your self heard via insults then do a YouTube video or go on face book for everybody to see what sort of inconsiderate person you are. THE END!

Hey just make one thing quite clear hear , I DID NOT accuse anyone on here of being a retard , please read the post correctly ! We all use terminology sometimes in the heat of the moment and I apologised subsequently .

The fact you say you are a country sports person what relevance is this to the OP's post ? As for your other rediculous conclusions , topics get debated on here sometimes quite aggressively , passions run high and things get said out of hand but should stop at the point of becoming personal . I have never once been cautioned by a moderator and that's the way I want it to stay .

    Have a good day ..

  5. Ok so I think I now need to clarify my comments some may feel i'm wrong so be it!

No i do not go round killing animals I have foxes living in my wood shed (last years young 3 of them )they seem to love the fact the sun beats down through a clear corrugated plastic roof . I feed the birds, I keep pets , I don't wish to destroy nature but i draw the line with pigeons they are vermin ! I would grind a stump if i found a rat whole near a stump I view them the same

I do not go shooting i have never been cruel to animals and as for calling me a retard .......Well I would of thought the moderators should moderate a little more

Think the moderators should knock you out mate . The fact is putting wildlife through chippers and stumpgrinders is unacceptable from a professional point of view and doesn't make you more of a man ..

What sort of example do you give out to members of the public reading this ?

  6. So if you had a big roadside job , complete with traffic management ( lights etc ) MEWP , Hiab lorry booked , and a team of 6 guys chippers etc would you then stop the job at YOUR expense ??

    100 % . My integrity comes first .. Wouldn't work for a client who thought otherwise .

  7. So you think they are "slow" or of low IQ, as opposed to just cruel or in humane?

"Retard" is a pretty offensive term and those that fall into this bracket deserve our sympathy not scorn. IME people of low IQ tend to be some of the kinder and more humane people you will meet.

Sorry in this instance I'm referring to the cruelty and wrong to quote these people as retards . Maybe could have thought of something more appropriate but can't think of anything . As for people putting wildlife through chippers , well each to their own , who cares , go for it , high fives and all that ..

  8. I use one , not all the time , not when pruning with the silky . Especially useful when I know I'm gonna be quite a while up the tree with a saw ( even a 200 ) . Don't know if it's my body shape ( I carry a bit more weight I suppose ) but I got completely sick and tired with my harness slipping down my arse regardless how tight I seemed to have it . Only downside it takes a bit of adjustment to get perfect and it will slightly restrict you at full stretch/extension . But I recommend one if you have the same trouble as me or even if you don't like the weight of a saw on your harness :thumbup1:
