  1. haha there is that
  2. wait for the husky in my opinion, it's a cracking saw
  3. I had my rope put through a greenmech when working in a situation where the chipper had to be close to the tree, my line went tight and then stalled the chipper, I wasn't angry at the 2 on the ground because it was an accidental mistake, just as much the person attached to the ropes fault in my opinion. always wondered if someone could invent some sort of rope bag which pulls in any slack or similar design?
  4. I'm not 100% on the exact size yet it's only gonna be a basic size and was thinking of doing it solid to make it abit more special, would this be harder? here's my start block
  5. cheers for the feedback! yeah i had a little read earlier about force drying, iv got it into a block, is it best to force dry it while its in its most raw stage?
  6. had no problems with them, good service from nice guys
  7. hi all, im completely new to woodcraft and my misses asked me if I could make her a photoframe for her parents for Christmas, stupid me agreed and yesterday I felled a 50/60 year old turkey oak so I thought this would be pretty perfect to try with, iv put it by our log burner to season, any tips on how to go about it i.e stop the wood splitting or if it's the right type of would to try with at all! thanks in advance
  8. cheers for the info
  9. looking at getting myself a website for advertising, iv seen a few build your own type ones when I had a quick look, is anybody using one similar? just looking for the cheapest most user friendly type one. thanks in advance
  10. thanks for your advice that exactly what I was looking for. I was just abit unsure on Insurence side of things. as you said start small bit by bit. and as you said don't step on anyone's toes, it's a friend a work with locally on weekends anyway so any bigger jobs I got would be with him or given to him to do through his company. and you saying if your good enough then age doesn't come into it is a far more grown up way of looking at things without knowing someone personally. so thanks for that. cheers for your help
  11. I know a few people within 5 miles of Kinver that might be able to help you, drop me a pm if it's any good to you
  12. thanks for your advice, I was only looking at starting on my own for occasional weekend work, advice on what Insurence and anything else i would need would be great. cheers
  13. weaver was my first harness, was old, bulky, heavy and not very comfortable at all, you hardly even know you have the sequoia on, it fits really well and it's super comfy
  14. my longer term plans are to work for myself full time, but as you know unless you start small and build yourself up slowly taking out a loan is the only option and I'm never gonna do that no matter how old I am. and I'm only expanding something I'm currently doing so I'm pretty confident my age isn't an issue, dont get me wrong it's defiantly good to work for other people at my age but iv got to the stage now where I'm capable of working for myself so why get earn less doing it for other people?
  15. I'm 19, may I ask why?
  16. hi, iv been in this game for around 3 years now and have recently got myself a good secure full time job in the week, i already work most weekends for other people and have started getting more of my own work just through people i know, i want to start doing more for myself on weekends and thought about maybe setting up as a small company and getting a website as a way to advertise myself more. any tips or advice on what insurance i would need and how to go about things would be brilliant thankyou:001_smile:
  17. lovely job, very natural
  18. I'm not too sure because I haven't used a husky top handle before but apparently they had a lot of trouble with the past prototypes and had top re design if that helps
  19. just gone from stretch airs to hi flex, stick with hi flex, the stretch airs are heavyer, if you get one little hole in them it turns into a Huuuuuuge hole within no time at all, you cant really stitch the material very well, the stitching in the crotch goes often as already said, and if you get the hi viz ones the hi viz strip at the bottom fall off in no time!
  20. i think you will be suprised, i was really impressed with the saw, its very gutsy, has lots of torque, low end power and feels very balanced and precise, theres also quite a few nice little features that come in very usefull Im not to sure, i wasnt told it wasnt allowed but i havent really got any means of getting any footage as santa hasnt bought my gopro hd yet:thumbdown: to be honest it looks like it will take anything you throw at it, seems very robust, the only thing i dont like about it is the primer button on the carb, seems utterly pointless and just something else to go wrong will report back at the end of the week
  21. yeah I was told its gonna be released early next year, we have just got 1 for a weeks trail and in all fairness they have done a better job of a low emission saw than stihl!
  22. been using one of these today, surprisingly quite good!
  23. just wondering if anyone knew the cheapest place at the moment, cheers
  24. wow!
