  1. I know we have been over this, but what's best bench mounted electric sharpener. This is for doing 48" chains that have it metal before any gives me the "man up and do it by hand". I do hand file mostly and happy with it, but doing 4 x 48" chains that have all it metal and having to put them on a double ended bar each time is tedious beyond belief.

Killed a went florabest I was given in about 3 chains. Use a dremmel with diamond files but also not actually that quick.

    So oregon? Portek? Others? Ta

  2. If you ever get one and fancy a 2.3 engine to put in it I have a rebuilt one with less than 300 miles on it in my garage which needs the head torquing down and rocker shaft put back in
You never know. Been looking ever since and not found one!
  3. Hello, I've been chainsaw carving for 3 years now and I've completed 15 pieces. I've found a dremmel style rotary tool very helpful for detailing, but it struggles. I've noticed some carvers use die grinders, can anyone tell me about the difference please? Thanks.
Do you mean compressor powered ones? I use one a bit, great for losing chains Mark's but can leave a bit rough finish if your not careful.
  4. I have seen it used in the past . A double ended with two 3120s actually . I think there is very little in it power and torque wise .
Mine was certainly good. Didn't really notice a difference between the two, though never compared with some bar/ timber combo. The 3120 definatley have some grunt

  5. Nope, was a genuine stihl pot & piston kit from L&S engineers, unless they sell knock off stuff? Where do you usually buy parts etc from, l&s have always been my go-to, but this saw doesn’t seem right. Cheers mate [emoji106]
Depends which one you bought seems they sell genuine 80quid ones and non genuine ones. Either way worth doing a vac/pressure check when changing as you may have an airleak causing it to run lean. Why did it sieze the first time?
  6. I sent a saw to another member recently. Drained, double wrapped in bin liners, double boxed with plenty of packing and was no issue. The sellers clearly done a bad job of packing and thats his responsibility, not yours. Id be making the paypal claim.
Sadly, i agree. Seems harsh but if the seller arranged courier not buyer, its the sellers responsibility to check courier is ok to courier, package properly, and insure against loss or damage if they want to. If the seller has cocked up here its hardly fair that you just loose a saw
  7. £400-650, depends on if a bar and chain is fitted, the condition and year although the year to me is unimportant as I have seen saws 10 years old in near new condition.
Just took a look on eBay sold listings - the £650 was a 2017 with a decent bar.
Sweet jesus thats strong money! While we're on the topic what do folk reckon a decent mk1 550xpg is worth. In Reasonable nick, obvs not been a full time forestry saw, but not on its first chain either.
  8. You can just update the original thread, you dont need to make a new one each time you ask. When you make a reply that will 'bump' it top the top for more exposure.

I see there is a Frontier OS31 for sale in Germany just now, on a Trailer too. Norwood made, or at least designed. If you're interested I'll pass his number on to you.
Just out of interest where did you see this?
