Boron/borax
Woodworm Treatment Shop

Woodworm Shop for Boron based Woodworm Treatments - safe, no smell, no solvents
I've used this. Cant tell you 100% of it worked yes not been enough years since I used it but reckon it should. Pretty sure it's safe for work surfaces, especially if you will seal after- 1

Have had couple of full electric days recently (excluding travel and chipper) using a 10" top handle and 14" makita ground saw. 4 pairs of 5ah batteries, charger was in customers garage from lunchtime onwards both days, but easily doable if there is a power source. No one had to wait for a battery to charged, most timber was cut to metre lengths.
So I'd say it's not so far off being feasible being fully electric in 10years- 5

I have a makita dcs4600 and ea5000p for sale if your after second hand. If not I hope you find a gooden. Personally I rate the pro makita stuff ( better than the farmer grade stihl/ husky). But overall prefer echo to makita ( only really used there too handles though no echo 50cc saws).

Hi Bill , sorry only just noticed this.
I would firstly do as others have suggested and fit a new return filter although if the tank is up to the max mark and you're working on an incline like you say , they were prone to weeping from the breather.
Mac , when he was G.M. Service Manager came up with a mod to raise the height of the breather .
If you're still struggling after the filter change I'll see if we still have the bits to make up the mod..
Jase.
Hi jase,
Afraid it's still leaking whenever working on a slight incline. Be great if you could have a look for parts for breather mod. Filter change made no difference by the way.
Thanks

My God! You can nearly buy a new set of spikes for the cost of those hydra cool pads!Rare as rocking horse shite in uk however I have bought them off e bay or amazon from the states no trouble. I prefer my long spikes now you get used to them I upgraded my pads to the hydra cool they are a total game changer much more comfortable than the standard pads worth every penny.- 1

Sounds very like the diffs were tight from being driven on tarmac in 4x4. Really not very good for them. Can take quite a bit of reversing and going forward on soft ground to loosen off before you can drop into 2h againok its shifted out of 4h and into 2wd for first time! i was reversing and had full lock on to do a 3 point turn, mind you it has shifter itself into 4l but again i reversed in 4h with full lock and it went into 2wd. Think i will have to pay a visit to the dealer at some point but first ive got some work to catch up on!- 2

I've found the small echos to be decent. Had a 360tes ( top handle version of 360wes) since 2016, no issues at all. Bought a 2700wes second hand for carving, very light and again no issues at all. The 2511wes looks a good hedge layer.I don't use it all day. It's only for nipping off the odd limb, starting the pleach cut on big stuff and cutting off heals. But it is too big, even for that.
The only Echo tools I've had are brush cutters which have been very good but if their saws aren't up to it I'll steer clear.
I did look at a Husky battery saw but the price put me off. So many small petrol saws are more domestic quality than pro so not knowing what to go for I've stuck with what I've got.
Been using makita cordless for a while. Like it, powerful enough ( the 36v ones are what you want unless pruning). Also very very cheapMakita DUC305Z 30cm / 12" Twin 18v LXT Brushless Cordless Chainsaw Body Only

Also worth noting I reckon the 043 1/4 chains want to run a bit slacker than bigger chains or the rails ware real fast

Good to know. What makita you comparing it to?Haven't done hedge laying either but I just picked up the 540ixp and it's quite a beast even in eco mode it's pretty good. Cut and pointed fencing strainers today which it managed but would occasionally clog in the side cover. The operator presence lever is a bit different as you need to push it in then down. Haven't tried the stihls but it knocks yards out of my Makita. -
Still doing it

Ouch. Please let me know if your breaking it or selling as a whole. Need a few bits for mine. TaThe crank shaft snapped. -
What's up with the 361?Hi.
I’ve worked as an arborists for over 20 years, always using Sthil 36* as an everyday ground saw.
Today a 361 broke irreparably and it’s left me wondering if after 20 years I should be extravagant and try a Husqvarna?
What are your thoughts? -
Be keen to know how you get on

Pal of mine cant log on here for some reason as asks the arbtalk massif;
"changing the taxation class of a 4x4 crane Lorry from HGV to agricultural
Going to run a PTO winch and chipper off it as well and it will be predominantly for golf course and estate work but will need to move it between sites."
So anyone done this recently?

I'd say 300 for a very good condition one is about right. I am trying to sell a 550 with light use and havent had many nibbles at 325. You may find one for 250 or 275 mind.

Archer? Tried a few loops of theirs and never managed to sharpen them before they snapped. I wrote them off as junk. Let me know if this isnt your experience

I have only done this twice in about 14 years, storm grade rain in connie monsters warrants it.That would be orrible I recon . If you are not wet you are not working !- 1
